Right the ones not only not worried about default but the ones actually calling for it.

In other words,the extremists.

Talk about an alternate reality.......[8|]

"Nobody won here" coming from an extremist neo-con,means the cons lost.

Then there`s the fact that the republican party brought us to the brink of disaster AGAIN,just to selfishly make points. But that`s going to come back as votes AGAINST them in '12'.

Owner....one of the most unsophisticated men on this board.....I call for a default in the hope it will bring about REAL change instead of the mush-mouthed bullshit and socialism we have been getting.  Got it?  Do you herald this compromise?  It does NOTHING.  We still head the way of Greece.  Understand?  There is no REVERSAL in course.  Tell me your little brain understands that simple fact.  Say it with me: No Reversal in Course.

There was a chart put out yesterday but that liberal rag; The Associated Press.  It was a debt chart year by year since 1981. I tried to paste it onto the board but it was impossible.  Except for the liberal morons on this board, what is in the graph is EXACTLY what we all know;  the largest jump in debt occurred from 2008 to 2009.  Liberals will say "hey, part of that is the funding for what Bush enabled or whatever programs were already in place at the time when Bush was president."  And to a degree....they are right.  No problem.  I agree.  But then a jump of equal size occurred in 2009 to 2010.  And then a jump in equal size occurred AGAIN from 2010 through 2011.  Part of 2011 was "projected" but half of '11 is already in the can.  Who was it...nottertail?.....who said that Reagan doubled the debt.  But didn't the doubling of the debt only mean that 1 trillion dollars was added to the debt?  (Something like that, I'm sure there are people so fucking torqued up to correct me their eyes are bleeding.)  This piece of shit has increased out debt by a trillion or more every year he has been in office.  Go google AP Debt Charge 7/31/10 and look at it for yourselves.

So, fundamentally, reading thru the details provided, there wasnt one fucking thing done whatsoever.  The can was kicked down the road.

Essentially..........................................................

In my opinion, older fuckers like us have crossed the Rubicon.  The dog we have in this fight loses a little weight every day.  I feel bad for the twenty-somethings and younger in this country.  It is very hard not to believe that they aren't entirely fucked.

The Tea Partiers held out for the best deal they could get, though they were being demonized plenty bad

Terrorists is what they were called

Hostage takers

willbeurdaddy -> RE: Looks Like a Done Deal on Debt Ceiling (8/1/2011 7:39:04 AM)

The other considerations re the "Done deal" is it still may not pass, and even if it does it may not be enough to avoid a downgrade of the credit rating. However, investors have ignored the downgrading of Euro-debt, particularly Greece. and Treasury yields show no sign of spiking. The whole credit rating thing may be more theatrics than real.

The teabaggers got nothing, did nothing, business as usual.  nothing was done, I repeat (because it bears repeating) nothing was done.

The one thing that got done (and all that needed to BE done at this moment) was the debt ceiling was raised.  All the stipulations and conditions that supposedly came with it didn't have to come with it, so IMO, it was needless posturing.  The plans to reduce spending and close loopholes, expire tax cuts and raise taxes will be coming next.  That's going to be the next drama play we'll be witnessing.

Reid signs off on the latest plan as the GOP looks like it will win the day and set the tone for the 2012 elections.

You can dig your head in the sand all you want, this now becomes a major election issue for 2012, exactly what The Democrat Party did not want.

mnottertail -> RE: Looks Like a Done Deal on Debt Ceiling (8/1/2011 7:54:30 AM)

Oh, they will take this.  Absolutely nothing changed in any real way; accounting tricks and budget cuts Obama wanted anyway....and the debt ceiling would be raised.

The issue is one of same old borrow and spend by republicans...

If you think that the end result wasnt a substantive recognition by the Dems that the days of profligate spending are over then youre not paying attention.

It could have been more of an issue without the commission. It moves Obama further away from the center of the next round of fighting, and lets him continue to hide behind the curtain. He was definitely a winner in this deal because he will be perceived as achieving a compromise, when in reality the compromise didnt occur until Boehner and Reid cut him out of the negotiations.

This post is too stupid to address.  Really is.  I don't know why I expect more from you, other people tell me I shouldn't.

Reagan borrowed.  He also restored our military capability and turned our military forces from the Keystone Cops there were in Grenada into the best fighting force in the world.  He broke the back of the U.S.S.R.  We had enormous prosperity under Reagan until the end of his administration.  HW was a president during a time of war as well.  I'm no fan of HW but you want to judge people in a vacuum and that, of course, only shows your enormous political bias.
Clinton was not a war time president, he taxed us to death and he cut our military deeper than any president since Carter and PERHAPS even including Carter.  Still, that was a trade off and the trade that worked out in his favor is that debt increased less during his administration than either Reagan or HW.  W was a war time president on two fronts who, within 8 months of his being president, occurred the greatest attack on U.S. soil------that is still shrouded in mystery but that is another topic.

Now president, other than FDR, has increased debt as much as Obama.  I don't want to hear bullshit about Reagan doubling the debt when it was just over 1 trillion and he doubled it to two.  Tell me how much debt-----someone give me the dollar figure----that has been added to the debt under O'scumbag.

He also ignores that the borrowing and spending was done largely by Democrat Congresses, not the GOP, including them reneging on their promise for 3:1 spending cuts that got TEFRA passed in the first place. Its laughable when people try and claim that the Reagan tax cuts created deficits. If the Dems had met their commitment we would have achieved REAL surpluses, not Clinton's near surpluses. Thank god for the economic stimulus from his and Bush's tax cuts or this debt ceiling argument would be over 20 trillion to ? instead of 14.5 trillion to ?

mnottertail -> RE: Looks Like a Done Deal on Debt Ceiling (8/1/2011 8:13:57 AM)

I expect nothing of you whatsoever,in terms of factor reason and I am cornucopiously rewarded in that regard.

What St. Wrinklemeat did for the military was to decimate VA hospitals, and reneg on promises made to veterans.  There was no prosperous economy under Wrinklemeat.

Hell, far as w goes, yanno, hitler started wars too, and had a pretty good war economy going for a while.

What a ignorantly laugable bunch of horseshit and asswipe.

Some conservatives, led by then-Congressman Jack Kemp, claim that the promised spending reductions never occurred.[4] One week after TEFRA was signed, H.R. 6863 - the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 1982 which Ronald Reagan claimed would "bust the budget" [5] was passed by both houses of Congress over his veto.[6] Four years later, then-budget director David Stockman, however, stated that Congress substantially upheld its end of the bargain, and cites the Administration's failure to identify management savings and its resistance to defense spending cuts as the key impediments to greater outlay savings.[4]

Yanno, Starwars, and the Reagan commissioned and ignominiously ignored by the Reagan administration W.R. Grace report.
