do Your Masters/Mistresses differentiate between toys for a session and toys for a punishment? If they do, do You think it makes the punishment worse knowing that those toys are set aside for punishment? If they don't, does it confuse you when they pull out toys in both scenarios?

I personally do not mix things used for punishment and things for play. I want there to be an obvious difference and in some ways I don't want to bastardize either one.

Yes there are specific items he uses only for play or only for punishment. I don't think it's really 'worse' knowing the difference between them. Most of the time I know if the time will be spent for punishment or just for play before hand, but I guess seeing the particular items does as well mentally/emotionally prepares me for what is about to happen. That is if I am not blindfolded.

My Master normally plays with me and at the end brings out the african police cane to give me my punishment. It does screw with my mind and pulls me out of subspace alot of times.

I don't ever see myself using pain as punishment (because I enjoy pain so much I can't see using it as punishment).

Dear ravn, Ladies and Gentlemen; Good topic. Many do set aside toys for punishment and scene play/pleasure. I for one do not do so. However, I do make clear that I am displeased and for what. I do not bleed punishment into or after a play/pleasure scene. My discipline/punishment method is rather passive, as I cannot afford my many toys I use as demonstration items; I don't want slaves to be confused. Most times mere displeasure is punishment for a slave heart. If I have to discipline they have to repeat what they did in error. If I have a masochist/pain lover with no bottom to it; I use passive discipline which is squat with bare feet on rice/bird seed/fish tank gravel, having a dime pressed to the wall by the tip of their nose for 10-20 minutes. The discomfort is amazingly painful and the rush of endorphines are not present. But, they will walk like a cripple for a few minutes afterwards. If I want to be even more mean; I'll add weight on them, hanging wet sand in bottles, water in liter bottles, scuba diver weights around the waist. And, it can go further with outstretched arms holding weights, while nose is holding the dime in a squat. Sometimes waiting for when I do punish can be painful as well. I punish when they don't expect it. I choose the time and place. Respectfully submitted, Lady Hugs

Himself will punish me according to the 'crime' which I've committed. I'm pretty damn good and don't get punished very often. So far, once this year and not a single time last year so that's a pretty good track record for me. ;) Celeste

Master takes away my toys as punishment, things like...ebay..ability to post...lets see what else...actually thats all I can think of so far..I am hardly ever punished..basically because I'm such a good girl usually grin. His toys are his playthings including me. Saying that, sometimes he might give me a switch or a light flick with a cane to hurry me along when Im being slow at something...but thats not really punishment, its just a means to get my attention more focused...doesnt confuse me at all.

I consider alll my toys to be for play, punishment is never part of it. Punishment usually is reserved for the rare occassion where a subbie disobeyes or dishonors her Master. Punishment is usually not physical, but ignoring her, comes as the cruelest form. Although there is one or two toys which I dont use regularly and could be construed as punishment, like the fan belt and the other rubber hose.

Knowing the difference in actions should be made very clear by She/He who is in charge! The touch and tone of voice is what changes play to punishment. I will use what comes to hand as I see fit. Acceptance is your choice.......... M.

He uses the same for both. It is the intention behind the whip which makes the difference, not the whip itself. What has me squirming in delight as he amuses himself with me will have me crying, cowering and trembling if used in corporal punishment.
