Arpig -> RE: According to the rules...ask the DM. (8/6/2011 1:58:50 PM)

Well I know the actual real world answer....but finding something in the rules will be tricky!!

ETA: [sm=meh.gif] Or will it.........?

MissImmortalPain -> RE: According to the rules...ask the DM. (8/6/2011 2:11:33 PM)

When does it stop being partly cloudy and start being partly sunny?

If chewing gum is so sticky, why doesn't it stick to the inside of your mouth?
The Rules say: Every glue-like substance has at least one particular solvent which will remove it, even Sovereign Glue can be counter with either Oil of Etherealness or Universal Solvent.

Interpretation: Something in the mouth, most likely saliva, contains a solvent which counters whatever component in chewing gum makes it sticky. So the next time you step on a discarded piece of gum, don't waste time trying to scrape it off, just take off your shoe and suck & lick the wad of old gum till it comes off (you could just try spitting on it, but it could be the mucous membranes of the mouth and not saliva that contains the active agent, so it's better not to take chances...save time and go right to the sucking and licking).

OK, my Loviataran one, this will take a little while, not because it is difficult to determine which rule applies, but because while I know exactly which table I want to use to give you an answer....remembering where that table is.....welllll

ETA: Found it!!! Well not the one I was looking for, but I found another rule to apply.

quote:

When does it stop being partly cloudy and start being partly sunny?
The Rules say: The section on visibility in the Pirates of the Sea of Fallen Stars supplement defines the visibility range at sea in clear weather as 8 miles, and that in cloudy weather to be 3 miles. This gives us an average visibility range of  5.5 miles.

Interpretation: Partly cloudy implies, to my mind, that it is more sunny than cloudy, if the visibility at sea is less than 5.5 miles, yet less than 8 miles, then it would be partly cloudy. Similarly if the nautical visibility range is between 5.5 & 3 miles, it would be partly sunny.

The DM would rather it stuck to your trousers, and what the Dm says goes. You can boil the Dungeon Master's Guide down to that one sentence...

No, if you would refer to the answer given to her question, I would obviously prefer it be stuck inside MY trousers, so she could assist me in its removal.

My bad.

Any question? Any??

Okay.

How can telomeres be preserved without affecting normal cellular division and thereby bypassing apoptosis, yet not promoting malignancies?

Arpig -> RE: According to the rules...ask the DM. (8/6/2011 9:46:56 PM)

Basically the same answer as Pam's nuclear bomb question: vast resources committed to sustained carefully focused research, combined with a lot of luck which leads to slow incremental progress, which, with some more luck, will eventually provide the answer. Some wishing and hoping won't hurt either.

Just making the scientific type questions harder to understand isn't going to change the answer.

DeviantlyD -> RE: According to the rules...ask the DM. (8/6/2011 10:05:43 PM)

It wasn't for the purposes of making it harder. It's something I've been wondering about. One of my classmates in school did a research project on telomeres. It's a very intriguing topic.

Arpig -> RE: According to the rules...ask the DM. (8/6/2011 10:15:00 PM)

And now you have the answer....see...it's all there in the rules. [:)]

pam

The Rules say: The section on disadvantages in Chapter 6 of the Player's Option: Skills and Powers book, clearly lays out the effects of allergies. Sneezing is the most common such effect.

Interpretation: Head & Shoulders might be in order for your eyebrow care.

Why do people in red cars seem to drive faster than those of us in non-red cars?
