Termyn8or -> Too many times (this site) (8/5/2011 8:31:23 PM)

Too many times I have been in the posting window and it just disappeared. this is after they decided to play security.

Couple more times of losing a half an hour of typing, I'll go back to Usenet.

Got it ?

so just type it up in a word doc that you save for stuff like this and then once you have finished saying what you want then copy, paste and post. I havent had that problem here but i have had that problem before elsewhere and even in my yahoo email for some strange reason.. and that is what i had to do.

Termy,

Get Arsclip. Very useful, Despite possibly the worst name for a bit of software anyone's come up with. All you have to do is select and copy any text. Arsclip will save it. Then, if you want to paste that text anywhere else, you just use a couple of hotkeys. Basically, it turns the clipboard into something a lot more useful: it'll save a number of selected and copied bits of text, which you can then paste from a list. One of my fave five freebie programs.

FR

I was just pissed.

I had the perfect fucking post, all that and then some. And wasn't really that long.

I SAY THIS, TO THE OWNERS, AND ANY CONSPIRATORS INVOLVED IN THIS SITE. :::

THERE SHOULD BE NO FUNCTION EVER THAT DELETES WHAT SOMEONE HAS TYPED, OR CLOSES THE REPLY WINDOW.

And don't give me this "It is a Windows problem" bullshit. Bullshit, I been usin windows since ummmmm 2000 ? No, I got Windows 95 in 2000,,,,,,, lemme think.

Oh fukit.

But I ain't kidding here.

Ummm . . . .

WordWeb (dictionary, sits in your systray, will come up with a definition for any word on the screen you've clicked). It'll even give you audible pronunciations, albeit in US English.

CCleaner (Sorts out the registry, does lots of other jobs that usually require paid-for programs)

Microsoft Security Essentials - good antivirus and antispyware, light on resources.

VLC Media Player - will play basically anything, chock full of its own codecs

Sounds really cool...thanks!

I distrust automated registry tools, I prefer to do it manually (an arduous process). Does this one give you a list of potential fixes where you can chose which ones to implement?

I have that on my laptop...seems to work very well, I've had zero issues.

I love VLC, I discovered it when trying to play a file with an obscure extension/codec combination (it was the Sharpe series...so I HAD to make it work!!). Now I couldn't live without it, I install it on any machine I work on!!

Hmmmmmm....maybe this would make a good thread topic!!

Thanks, Peon!

Yep, CCleaner will give you a list of potential fixes, one or more of which you can un-tick. Or, of course, you can just back up the registry first.
