Not really.

This is going to play out and hurt folks, for a while.

And just on the heals of '08'.

And just like the annalists and investors(who will lose the most),they know who manufactured this crisis from whole cloth.

The GOP/tea-party/republican/same-thing members.

You only wish folks will forget this. You also know it looks bad and who`s responsible.

Your "lets move on,don`t blame my party" wishes are a bit premature.

They dont want to know the truth, TKY. Show them April or show them now, the message is consistent, and its the budget deficit, not the debt ceiling that has always been the problem.

What people are pissed about, was cons holding our prosperity hostage so that john-boner could get "98% of what he wanted".

He took the credit and he`s going to get the blame too.

Owner... not everyone is an ideologue, like yourself.  Without the blinders of partisan politics, it is very easy to see what is going on... and what went on.

I do not hold the Republicans blameless.  I do not hold the Democrats blameless.  Each was unwilling to let go of their own partisan positions long enough to reach a real solution.  Each was unwilling to risk their political future in order to compromise.

Bread and circuses... and good many Americans played right along, unwilling to give up either.

The rest of us sit back shaking our heads and wondering just how bad it is going to be.  We can do nothing else because our voices are drown out by all the ideologues shouting how it is all the fault of the other.

How's that shouting working for you?

I know, they both did it.The default answer when you`re party gets caught fucking up.

You are also an ideologue. No need to hide that.

Facts tho are what gives credibility. Not strength of belief or bias.

The news, the record, history aren`nt biased against the right, the facts are.

You can wish and hope it`ll stop all you want, but asses act like asses. This case, the asses are the cons.

Unless, you can argue and show where it was the democrats or the president had a hand in creating this crisis.

By creating,I m mean making something bad that did have to happen, happen and done on purpose and deliberately.

Example,we`re driving the family car down the road cruising along. The car has problems but it works and it`s the only one we have. When all of a sudden, without good reason or thinking it through, the driver turns and crashes the car.

That,is a manufactured crisis.Something bad, that didn`t have to happen if not for stupid, reckless behavior.Spin all you want, the driver or guy that grabbed the wheel and swerved us, is going to get the blame.

I would partially agree that both parties will be blamed by the swing voters, moderates and a-politicals.The folks who`s non-partisanship is sincere.

We know which parties the "ideologues" are going to blame in Nov....The other`s.

But if the economy picks up,this episode will be forgotten, mostly.

If it doesn`t and I see no sign that it will, folks will remember and we`ll see.

I do not disagree that the deficit is a major concern from S&P's perspective. HOWEVER, it is the combination of the deficit AND the lack of confidence in our government's (specifically the Executive and Legislative branch) ability to resolve it.

This message is consistent throughout the report. It is stated in about a dozen different ways.

My overall point is this:

REGARDLESS of how S&P felt about the deficit, (or Obama's total lack of leadership on this issue), it is the obstructive tactics of the Republican party (driven by the Tea Party) leading up to the ultimate destructive tactic of using our debt ceiling as a bargaining chip that TRIGGERED the downgrade.

It is not MERELY the deficit. It is the deficit combined with a lack of confidence that our government can resolve it. The hostage taking of the full faith and credit of the US was absolutely the last straw.

Consumer confidence.

Hard to measure accurately.

But you know in your gut whether it`s going up or down.

There won`t be any huge amount of jobs being produced either.

Most businesses are tightening and make more with less.

If your business is helping other businesses become more productive with the same amount of employees and overhead costs(or less),you`re very busy and booked for the foreseeable future.
