I am a registered Democrat and my choices tend to lean towards party lines, but I do think that candidates should be looked at as individuals.  Had McCain been the Rebublican nominee instead of Bush in 2000, I probably would have voted for him instead of Gore.

Being from Illinois, it was very interesting to see the race heating up between Barak Obama and Jack Ryan.  Both were highly intelligent individuals with great ideas who could certainly sway voters from either side.  Had the details of Jack and Jeri Ryan's divorce remained private, it could have been a very close race.  As it stands, the man that I wanted in office from the get go is impressing the hell out of them in Washington, but I would have loved the opportunity to have seen how it would have all played out.

I am registered as 'non-partisan' it pisses off most of my family since they are right wing, but oh well. I vote my conscious adn the issues, not along any party lines, thats why things get so bad, because people don't know about the issues and they rely on their 'party' to make decisions for them, or they just don't vote. I can still vote and do in every election, beign non-partisan just means no party affiliation. Nothing wrong with that Besides, most of the time you are voting for the lesser of two or three evils.

I really dislike the parties on principle, and I've been very unimpressed with the performance of both of the major parties on both a local and national level.  It's not even the stances they take, as much as the knuckle draggers and short bus riders they kept putting forth as our national leadership.

Basically, I'll become a republican once they stop running Bushes, and start putting people like Powell towards the front lines of leadership (which of course, is never going to happen).  I'll be a democrat if they shoot all the Kennedys, Clintons, with Murtha as a parting gift.

As is I'll just vote for the person that gives me less heartburn when I check the lil box.

Issues. Parties these days are interchangeable in many ways.

Individuals because whoever is "on the job" now from either party deserves to be fired. I'll be voting against ANY incumbent regardless of party affiliation.

I vote for individuals.  It takes a bit more research but that comes with being a citizen.  I also volunteer to help some candidates, again regardless of their party.

I am a registered Democrat and used to vote a straight Democratic ticket.  That has changed, however.  I have become utterly disgusted by politicians in both parties.  Now I research the issues that are important to Me, find out how individual candidates stand on them, and vote accordingly.

I did not see my choice, Individual because I vote issues and not people or party.

I am an independent that does not want to vote dem or republican. I will vote for anyone that has done a good job representing me and how I feel. I am voting for people that agree with me about the war, taxation, environment, and civil rights... Most of the time neither dems nor republicans agree with me....sighs!

Individuals and issues.

Though I've always been a registered Democrat, for president, I've voted for Carter, Reagan, Dukakis, Clinton, Nader, and Bush (twice). I've also frequently voted for Libertarians.
