conehomalvedo -> Looking for a dog bowl safe for humans (8/9/2011 11:08:19 AM)

Particularly interested in stainless steel that expands towards the base, with rubber ring.. but it seems most all pet bowls are "not suitable for human use." This looks to me a red alarm that the composition might somehow be toxic or carcinogenic if used by us. Any idea where to find one safe for human use? [:o] Thanks

nah its ok, even ladders have a 'not a step' sign on them.

Wash it really good and if necessary for your piece of mind, polish it in a strong solution of chlorine bleach.

Uhh, just go to the pet shop and wash before use, if I'd be worried that it might be slightly dangerous I wouldn't let my fur babies eat from it!

Stainless steel dog food bowls are safe for human to use. You would never guess how many babies actually eat out of the dog & cat food bowls when Mom is distracted. For this reason alone the manufactures make it safe for humans.

Talk about overpriced...

lol yea that's crazy priced. In my experience just going to a pet store and getting a stainless steel bowl has worked out perfectly for me. Think big though, if you get a small bowl it's really difficult to get anything out of it via human mouth.

I have 2 Dobies (raised bowls as it's better for their necks) but yeah, I do think BIG and stainless steal is the easiest to clean.

Right on, will do. To the pet store.. again!
btw that squarepeg bowl's price is.... yikes [sm=ugh.gif]

littlewonder -> RE: Looking for a dog bowl safe for humans (8/10/2011 11:17:57 PM)

....or just use a regular bowl and set it on the floor. When i had pets that's what I used...just a regular ole bowl and a small plate. They didn't seem to mind.

yes but littlewonder, actually have a dog bowl adds more realism to the scene : ).

MrSprocket -> RE: Looking for a dog bowl safe for humans (8/11/2011 9:06:04 AM)

I would try making one from a large mixing bowl and a block of wood... know any woodcutters? lol

Also you can get ceramic dog bowls and those work great.
