Yanno, I think the term "Teabagger" and "TEA partier" is pretty handy for a lot of discussions for the left, and it just occurred to me that "us on the right" needed a similar short-hand term to describe a number of our political adversaries as well.

Then, it came to me ... "Fleabaggers" ....

Here is the Wikipedia definition of a Flea:

Fleas are external parasites, living by hematophagy off the blood of mammals (including bats and humans) and birds.

I think this is a good counter to the lefties "Teabaggers", and there is a fair amount of room for an expansion of "fleabagger's" meaning and nuances.

The link above takes you to a more detailed article on fleas, and I think there is plenty of material to relate it to a certain species of leftist politicians, don't you?

What about it, "righties"?  You think it's a useful term?

When I first glanced at your post I assumed that 'Fleabagger' was meant to refer to the Tea Party as another variant on 'Tea Bagger.' That is an interpretation that I think most people will make when they hear, or see, the term 'Fleabagger' for the first time. So no, I don't think it is a good label for the left. It is too easily misinterpreted as representing the right.

I always thought nutsuckers a good description of the right.

Hey, I just need a smart repartee the next time someone calls me a "teabagger".

"You damn teabagger!"  (angrily)

"You damn fleabagger!" (humorously)

Dig it?

PS.  I seem to be having a lot of CollarChat time outs.  Am I the only one?

No disagreement.  Except we are talking about what to call the rabid left.

Probably more accurate, but not as much emotional "umpf", I don't think.

Nahh, then you get into all that definition stuff, as well as the argument about whether or not National Socialism was socialist, and the differences between the Euro-left and the American left ...

Too complex.

Nope, been going on and off all day here as well.

As to the term? Nah, not intuitive, takes too much explaining.

List the names of some lefty organizations and then let's see what we can come up with.

Here's an example
Socialists = Syphs.

I think this thread was started by somebody who is still stuck in the left/right distraction. Dude, give your head a shake. They're the same party and you're one of the last to realize it.

Crap!  I'll probably retire from the forums for the night then.  Too damn irritating, trying to carry on a conversation.

Well, there were a lot of questions, in the beginning, about what "TEA bagger" meant.  I think if it caught on, it would quickly become easily understood.

"Blood sucking parasite!"

"Oh, you mean he's a fleabagger?"

Or maybe someone who's having a bit of fun with my friends and compatriots, on both sides of the aisle?

Ok, we have:

fleabaggers (blood sucking parasites)

and

Syphs (a social disease).

I'm open to anything, really.

Any other ideas?
