ORIGINAL: tj444 When I lived in Western Canada, I referred to those Canadians that came to the west from any where east of Alberta as “foreigners”.. I was joking, of course,.. sort of hahaha.. [:D] There just is a different mentality between people from various provinces.. my ex was originally from Ontario.. and look how that turned out.. try to mix water and oil.. [:D] Well,.. I have already done it.. once, so far.. moved from my birth country to another, at least for a time, not sure at this point if it will be for very long. I will always be a Canadian and reserve my right to move back to take advantage of the health care should I need it! Ha [8D] I don’t like the US govt and the police state they have turned it into… unless there is a serious reason for me to stay put here, meaning I get a future boyfriend that I am very happily living with.. I expect my next stop will be either Turks and Caicos or Costa Rica,. At this point anyway.. but who knows, I could end up in Australia instead.. I have no ties of any consequence now so I can go anywhere, really… I will say this tho, moving to whatever country (the US or elsewhere), I contribute, contrary to the general stereotype, and I don’t use the medical system, I pay for myself, I don’t have kids that go to school, I did not take anyone’s job, etc. And I would learn the language there as well, if its not English. I personally think that immigration for certain countries is almost a necessity since the birth rate has dropped and that can cause a country financial problems when too many people retire too fast, like what will happen with the boomers… some countries need more people to make up the slack in dwindling tax revenues.. Jmo.. Tj, good points. As for the boomers, if our govt in the U.S. wasn't getting us involved in all those "free-trade" deals we'd have millions more taxpayers in this country. Instead we have third worlders with third grade educations who sneak into our country and begin immediately to steal benefits that they're not entitled to. And many become involved in the drug trade and violence. The U.S. is a mature country now and we simply don't need a lot of immigration anymore, certainly not lawn jockeys or landscapers. And we shouldn't be letting in a million and a half people per year. More like 100,00 to 200,000 a year and those with needed skills in medicine, engineering and the like. Not hotel maids who claimed to have been "raped" in their own countries! That's a *local police matter* in their own countries not a reason to try to get into the U.S. Those "refugee" and "asylum" programs are loaded with scams and we need to get out of them! "I don't like the U.S. govt or the police state they've turned it into." Yeah, me neither. In the last two and a half years "our govt" under Barakolypse has decided what kind of lightbulbs we'll be able to buy and they've told the car makers what kind of cars to build in the future! Oh, and then there's the embarrassing little matter of giving guns to drug runners! He just doesn't get it, he's not in office to try to *tell* The People what to do, he's in office to *serve* The People! He'll "get it" in Nov of 2012 when we throw him out of office! Jimmy Carter must be running around dong the peppermint twist! There are sooooo many people out here scratching their heads wondering what the hell this guy is doing. And, he won't enforce our immigration laws or border and has a DHS director who tells us that the Mexican border is secure! This is a really bad time in our history. I'm not a Republican but I did watch that debate last night and I did find it refreshing to hear some of the answers from those candidates! Boy do we EVER need change!
