That's only because you don't know him.  Nothing new here, same as every other elected official, says one thing and then does something else.

Raised taxes, doubled the Texas debt, vowed to never take money from Obama (then took money from Obama)

same old same old.

Firm, I can appreciate your thinking on the long-term picture, but are you taking into account the risks of handing over another four years of his "leadership" on the international stage?

Ok  the Stim money he VOWED never to take

http://money.cnn.com/2011/01/23/news/economy/texas_perry_budget_stimulus/index.htm

Same old phony "hypocrisy" argument.

If you are AGAINST something that costs your taxpayers money, but it PASSES ANYWAY, you are OBLIGATED to get as much of it back for your state as you can.

Moreover, the only "vow" he made was to reject the unemployment stimulus money, which he did reject, $555 million....because complying with its requirements would have cost more than that.

The "Secession" crap was already debunked in another thread.

Just another bullshit post.

When it comes to budget gaps, Texas is just like much of the rest of the country. This year, the state faced a projected budget shortfall totaling as much as $27 billion; the legislature also had to contend with a $4.3 billion deficit in its current budget. The state made massive across-the-board cuts to state agencies -- including $4 billion in public school cuts over two years. Perry and the state legislature also ended up closing out funding for pre-kindergarten programs for roughly 100,000 low-income children. Mass layoffs of public sector workers is expected.

Over 4 million Texans—3 million children and 1 million seniors, adults with disabilities, expectant mothers, and very poor parents—rely on Medicaid or CHIP for the critical health care and community supports they need.
Now, Medicaid and CHIP are targeted for extreme cuts in Austin and Washington.

1. Obama claims to be religious, its strange how so many leftists try to make such a big deal about someones religion when all their politicians lay claim to a religion

And no religion is any "funnier" than Obamas former church of "Hate Whitey"

2. States cant print money like the fed can. For a governor to do his best to reign in spending and have his state live within its means isnt a black eye for a conservative to conservatives, only to liberals who seem to believe that money just grows on trees

3. Ive heard some good things about the employment picture in Texas

Again, I dont know a lot about Governor Perry but I fully expect leftists to put him at the top of their enemies list if it looks like hes getting any kind of traction at all. Watch for them to pull out all the stops and lie like theres no tomorrow about the guy

I thought you who wanted to know more about him????, I knew you wouldnt read any of the links... This has nothing to do with Obama, or his religion(have you conceeded he might be christian, or are you still waiting for him to get caught praying to Mecca??)
The employment numbers arent fudged but the reality is far from rosy.
again, if you wont learn from other sources , then you deserve to remain ignorant.
problem is many texans and americans are as ignorant and stubborn as you.

leftist this and obama that, you are the singular most predictive mouthbreather here.

Perry will have a hard time getting votes nationally because most people, not raving lunatic cons, do not think highly of people whose indifference to their responsibilities resulted in the death of an innocent man.

Thanks for posting those.

I can't say those with a religious twist made much of a dent. I mean hell, religion only seems to matter in partisan terms. Liberal minded folk deflected all the outcry about Obama's associations. I'm sure the same thing will happen here, just in an opposite direction. I'm about as certain the level of vitriol coming back will be about the same too.

I'd only heard statistics when it came to Texas job growth however. Seeing how it breaks down makes a difference, not so much in terms of numbers, but in understanding the glow of the aura isn't as golden as many will try to make it seem. And this has been a big issue for me in general, especially when people, left and right, talk about the number of jobs created. From both sides comes little more than numbers. There's almost no mention of what those jobs actually are however, and way too many of them paint a picture of rising under-employment - which is about as bad overall as unemployment.

Simply growing jobs will not put wealth back on Main street. Growing good jobs will. The ability to do that seems to escape both parties.

I don't have the answer either. A good many of the jobs that lifted people out of poverty years ago, are gone and will never come back. They were spirited away on the backs of equally rosy promises made under the banner of Free Trade.

He has not done that is Texas, unless you consider the jobs at the minimum wage replacing blue collar jobs a good thing.

He has juggled money around to look like he has a balanced budget, but when you look at the numbers all he is doing is taking money from one dept fiscal budget and adding it to the next year, and Geeee as much as he bitched about NEVER taking the Stim money, he sure did take it to pay off some of the debt he created

Source, or are you using your usual left wing talking points? Either way, he still kills Obama on job creation, minimum wage is better than nothing.

Wrong. These minimum wage jobs Perry is getting all the credit for creating is not only minimum wage but they are part time. Instead of creating say 5 full time positions at minimum wage, they are working 10 people part time.....wow, he created 10 jobs instead of 5...yea he's just wonderful.

And jobs that were worth 100K five to 10 years ago are worth, at best, 80K now. So he is creating part time minimum wage jobs, which mostly contain the words "would you like fries with that" and the white collar jobs worth has been devalued. Our school budgets have been cut dramatically, teachers are losing jobs left and right.

If Perry gets the White House, the middle class will completely die, hard and fast.

So, you think that the ONLY candidate who wants to end the racist war on drugs and the FIVE wars we're waging is a racist or an idiot? All of the other candidates will keep committing those crimes. Knowing that, how could you support another candidate? Are these issues not that important to you?

Simple fact, Ron Paul has lied about his position on virtually everything.

Paul claims to want to devolve decisions on abortions to the states but has introduced a bill. 3 seperate tmes, that would define life as starting at conception and would leave the states no choice but to treat abortion as murder.

Paul claims to be opposed to earmarks but requests dozens of earmarks each budget year.

Paul claims not to be a racist but his newsletter included many outright racist columns written in Paul's style and discussing details of Paul's life (his status as a OB amongst others).

I suggest that everyone who supports him do the research to find out how you've been suckered.

He votes his beliefs consistently as far as I can see. I've still got a lot to read as of now but so far good.

As for the racism, I doubt it....A serious goof up by letting stuff like that out under his name, absolutely. Just about every president for the last 20 years has been involved in some sort of criminal act. If it's a blunder, I can forgive that.

Read the newsletters, read the sanctity of life act, investigate how many earmarks he requests in budgets he still votes against. Then tell me how the man is what he claims to be.
