No you presented your opinion. You get that mixed up with facts often. regardless I answered to what I thought of your "facts". You brought up Texas as an example of how it wouldn't work, yet Texas is already acting on it's own, so you really don't have a point other than to link Ron Paul with a Republican party he doesn't have a whole lot of common ground with.

You have yet to answer any of my questions as well, so I think this conversation is over.

Thanks for your "well thought out" responses.

Same-sex marriage In a 2007 interview with John Stossel, Paul stated that he supported the right of gay couples to marry, so long as they didn't "impose" their relationship on anyone else, on the grounds of supporting voluntary associations.
Paul has said that recognizing same-sex marriage at the federal level would be "an act of social engineering profoundly hostile to liberty."[190] Paul stated, "Americans understandably fear that if gay marriage is legalized in one state, all other states will be forced to accept such marriages."[191] He says that in a best case scenario, governments would enforce contracts and grant divorces but otherwise have no say in marriage.[192] Paul has also stated he doesn't want to interfere in the free association of two individuals in a social, sexual, and religious sense.[193][194] Additionally, when asked if he was supportive of gay marriage Paul responded "I am supportive of all voluntary associations and people can call it whatever they want."[193]

I'm not sure what he means by "impose" but it sounds like he said OKAY.

I am under absolutely no obligation to respond to your questions if they are not on topic or are obviously atytempts to change the subject.

You are still trying to pretend like I equated RP to the Texas GOP. What this discussion is about is your stated preference for RP's desire to let states decide social matters. I presented the platform of the dominant political party in Texas indicating that they would bring back sodomy laws and would decriminalize gay bashing. Texas is not acting on its own on these desires because any attempt to do so would run afoul of the federal courts.

Now if you are ready to actually discuss your stated preference for letting states decide social matters I am interested in how you would defend that knowing the suffering it would cause. If you intend to continue evading and trying to change subjects or toss out red herrings I'll just keep pointing out that you have yet to substantively respond to the topic at all.

I was just wondering, Republicans - if the primary were to be held today, for whom would your vote go? And why?

On topic: I'd obviously vote for Ron Paul because I  think he'd do the most to further liberty and right a lot of wrongs that have been dealt to the constitution and it's people by default of those actions.

People may or not agree with his stances but he has held firm in his beliefs of the role that government should play in our lives based on his knowledge of the Constitution.

If more held the Constitution to the standard it should be held, we'd probably not have the issues we do now. People have lost their sense of liberty and seemingly their desire for it.

Iran getting a nuke? Not a whole lot you can do if someone wants to come here with a nuke. Shore your borders up, use some of that money we spend on out vast wars and maybe buy better detection equipment but in the end, foreign policy leaning towards treating other countries with respect instead of killing off their leaders and replacing them with someone we can control/that will trade for oil, might go a whole lot further. I'd be pissed off too if some other country came to US soil and said.. "This is how your gonna do it".. How might you act? I'd wanna pick up a gun and get them out.

Completely off topic, but:
If Iran gets a nuke, that's going to be Israel's problem, not yours.

Israel will do what they have always done, before we started to heavily influence their policies, on the scale we do today, when threatened. Kick ass and take names.

If we stepped back they'd clean house to protect themselves.

Something to consider.

A government that is powerful enough to tell you to allow gay marriage is also powerful enough to tell you you must purchase something, like medical insurance. A government powerful enough to command that of you is also powerful enough to outlaw abortion, ownership of property, shoot, the ability to come onto collarme type websites.

A very good point. But I believe the Bill of Rights should be in full effect anywhere in the US. It seems absurd to me that a US citizen can stand on US soil and find his natural rights scattered piecemeal, with some in one state and some in another.

So a government powerful enough to tell you to allow straights to marry isn't as powerful as one that can tell you to allow gays to marry? Did you not see the obvious logical flaw in this when you wrote it?

Perhaps if it were explained in a children's book for you. Maybe you could ask your teacher for some crayons till that happens. [:D]

Serious though.. why don't you research and follow the links. What looks like a vote against gay marriages is a vote against government sticking it's nose in those issues.

He knows that the Feds have absolutely NO rights to act the way they do. They are strictly held to certain avenues by the Constitution.

No kidding? Then what's that all about in the Declaration of Independence?

I guess they must have got it wrong.
