...or lack thereof. Nowadays there is no room for nuance in the news cycle, or on discussion boards, talking head shows, etc. Some event gets covered or belched up from the blogosphere, everyone runs with it like a pack of bloodhounds, and only the most basic explanations are given. Then it's off to the next outrage. Rinse and repeat. A week or two later out comes the full background on said event but it's well back in the paper and since it's a long explanation, most will not bother reading it. It's like getting a bunch of Powerpoint bullets but missing all the information that someone "talks to" during the presentation. For example, the mortgage crisis gets a lot of mileage on boards all over the net. There are a whole bunch of contributors but generally talking points are bandied about instead. A full explanation would require excerpting a few books, reading some very long reports on Pro Publica, and/or listening to some cool podcasts. TARP gets skewered for years about its heinous cost, but it's right around breakeven and may even make money. Problem is that it's waaaaay past the news cycle. You'll never be able to have an in-depth P&R discussion in this or any electronic bulletin board. Face to face, maybe. It may even be slightly more civil since you can be a major asshole on a board without fearing a punch in the nose (or a kick in the shins)! [:D]

You know, I know what you mean. It's hard in text though. I mean at my kitchen table, it is different. I have joked, I mean we all got warrants all over the place, that's my peeps, but the joke is now that this house is bugged. I'll fix that sometime next year, but as such, being bugged, we are immune from arrest or anything because ther FBI agents and shit are sitting there laughing their ass off listening to the tapes. Short of murder, I think my crowd can get away with just aout anything. But nuance on the other hand, what is on your other hand right now ? I have been thinking of bringing in tunes, bu that poses problems. I can throw them in dropbox and it works, but due to copyrights I just can't keep it up. I mean I could but I would have a link for people to hit but I WILL have to delete the file, for the sake of both dropbox and CM. These copyright police are getting serious these days. Nuance.
