Orfic,

Uh, the same shallow argument could be made of D/s relationships that the dominant is a control freak and the submissive a doormat.  That is no more true than your dismissive post about S&M.  Grow up and realize the world is a complex place full of shades of grey.

And yes, by the way, it is very nice to be 21 and know everything about SM.

Gollyyyy, and here i thought "i" was the arrogant one here.   *laughs*

Ahhh..Orfik, while you have the right to say/type what youu want, just as anyone else here does....sometimes, and i do mean sometimes, there is something to be said about growth and learning.  When you stop learning, when you think you know it All...............you have now become stagnant.   By the way, welcome to the boards.

Call me novel...I trust you.  You don't need to prove anything to me in order for me to trust you.

What is amazing is the speed in which so many can lose that trust.  Nothing can break trust quicker than insincerity - the genuiness or lack of by which they interact with others.  Reliability is also a crucial part of trust. For example, showing up at an agreed time or following through with that which has been agreed upon.

The degree to which we trust someone has a major bearing on the type and relationship we will form with them.  So i guess my question is, should trust be something that is earned first?  or do you find that you trust first and require someone to maintain it

I, like you clearly always seem to trust.  Whether I trust too soon is yet to be clear.  I have always trusted first and if really hurt or decieved that trust is gone.  I am a two chance type of person.  Once trust is broken twice... that is it.

In love, light and true Dominance,
Lady Moon

In response to all my elders, it's sad to see people who've lived so long misunderstand the real (there's that word again) thrill of perversion, but so it goes. Anyway, I don't feel like commenting anymore on the boards, but you're all welcome to message me if you feel like arguing about this -- I'm genuinely interested in your opinions.

Dustyn -> RE: Trust--Earned or Maintained? (5/21/2006 9:35:35 PM)

Okay, Orfik, since it's apparent that us 'old timers' haven't a clue as to what 'true' perversion actually is, how about you give us an example of what you, personally, would do that would qualify as 'real' perversion.

As my non perverted family members tell me
"you need Jesus" kid cause you're a little lost in all that arrogance; You're cute, but I don't think that is going to keep you safe from harm to yourself and others, and therefore the big house, lol.    M

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Trust--Earned or Maintained? (5/22/2006 6:21:52 AM)

For me trust is a series of leaps of faith.

You take leaps- little ones or big ones, and you see whether you stand or fall.  If you fall, you lose trust.  If you stand, you can take bigger leaps.

But it's always a leap- no matter how certain the ground seems.

And I call foul on the age card- Orfik isn't saying or acting any worse than several 40+ people we've seen come on here.  Cite the attitude, not the age.

iliv2servher -> RE: Trust--Earned or Maintained? (5/22/2006 8:38:22 AM)

I believe that people do have to earn the trust of others.  I think it is both cavalier and irresponsible to trust just anyone.  I also agree that there are different levels of trust.  Having said that, I also feel that you have to allow people the opportunity of proving that they indeed can be trusted.

Your genuine interest in others opinions is as genuine open-mindedness.  Not only do you show yourself to be highly closed minded and judgemental (a sad trait of someone so young).  This post now reflects you have a lack of integrity as well, a sad trait at any age.

At least with me, I'll trust just about anyone that's at least vaguely amiable.  Never said, though, just how far I would trust them, at first.

i will trust someone as long as they are trust worthy when they are not so honest or i catch them doing something that is not trustworthy than that it when i no longer can trust them. so i guess what i am saying is. in a way they do have to earn my trust.

i have to agree with tinkerbellKH trust is earned, if someone breaks that trust then they do not deserve to be trusted anymore.
