Status: offline 		I'm hoping that with the introduction of California's new open primary system, the people in her district will finally fire Maxine.

I do wonder what the assumptions from the local proggies would be, if a Tea-Party type was begging for Bachmann to "unleash them."

Status: offline 		So Ladyneedshelp has declared herself as one of those who is of the opinion that the President of The United States should travel via something akin to a VW bus.
Of course Lady and some others hold that all Presidents,not just this one....and certainly not due to the unique characteristic quality of this President.They do not complain about this due to some sort of petty,small minded motive,no this is a principled stand having to do with tax payer money and all that.
While we are at it,perhaps we should mothball AirForce One...at least till we get a real red blooded American back in that office

Status: offline 		question... are the tour buses that Romney, Bachmann, Perry, Santorum , gingrich, and Paul etc etc etc, all paid for by campaign(read it and weep LNH)fund or ?? those arent state of the art either are they, just 50 yr old rusbuckets, being pulled by mexican illegals
I dont see any of them touring around in VWs
I understand you would rather cry about the pres double talking, and make him stay at home until the election is over but repubs talking about waste and over spending and no one seems to be taking that into account...

Yes, how quickly we forget.


An ex-VP taking a private jet at the behest of his several employers, after leaving office, or a Pres. traveling as every other Pres. has in the past, is an ungodly sin, if  he be of the wrong party.


But a VP that drags the country into an unholy morass as soon as in office to directly benefit his company, or a pres. that wastes millions of taxpayer dollars to have his butt landed on an aircraft carrier  so he can say "mission accomplished" while we still stand with mission unaccomplished 9 years later ...

Now that's integrity!

Status: offline 		From what I've read, Lucy, the Secret Service bought more than one of these things, and the other(s?) will be available for the Republican candidate, and probably other protective details as well.  It makes sense.  Considering that these behemoths are easily a quarter mil for the basic model, 1.1 for one safe enough, and equipped enough, to carry POTUS doesn't seem out of line to me.

Of course, the RNC will be paying the rent on the Repub. bus next fall, while the taxpayers are picking up the tab on this campaign trip.

Other conservatives were snarkier. Wrote Dana Loesch, a “tea party” activist and CNN contributor, on Twitter on Tuesday, “Nothing says 'Let's tour America and talk about jobs!' than a big, black, hearse mobile of doom.”

President George W. Bush used a bus from the same manufacturer, Quebec-based Prevost, for a spring 2004 “Yes, America Can” campaign tour through the Midwest.

“We’ve been overdue for having an asset like this in our fleet of protective vehicles,” Donovan said, adding that leasing buses is “not inexpensive – that costs tens of thousands of dollars a month…. Designing our own vehicle really gives us a level of security that we couldn’t achieve by doing it the other way.”

The second bus will be used eventually by the Republican presidential nominee.

Status: offline 		Never mind the bus was the Secret Services idea and in fact according to the Secret Service it will save the taxpayer money by owning them instead of renting which they did in the past.  It was in the news the day he started his tour, but when you can only look for the negative that is all you find

He is not the first President to travel around in a bus, just the
