yeah i'm also pretty annoyed that they killed the bears. people need to STAY AWAY FROM BEARS, especially when it's been a bad season and they are hungry. seems pretty simple. i can't imagine how heinous it would be to hear your daughter being eaten by bears. everyone knows bears eat things while they're stll alive, which is pretty creepy from a human perspective. but when you're pushing them further and further into smaller areas of land, cutting them off from traditional routes that took them to food, or overusing resources and leaving little to nothing for them, what do you expect? STAY AWAY FROM BEARS, duh. sad story all around. =(

yeah, over an hour. They also got this guy on there says there are tunnels from scotland to the middle east, and other such mundane stuff.....I would give the whole thing a little think, prior to thinking on this, for any lenght of time, say anything over a total ignore.

have you ever read about bear behavior? that's pretty common actually. they are known to leave and return to a meal over a period of time; an hour really isn't that unusual. it's also not unusual to use a cell phone to reach out to loved ones during what may be your last hours. remember that day in September about 10 years ago?

In WWI and WWII, one tactic would be to wound a guy in the leg or gut, so he'd be immobile and in pain and screaming for his buddies to come get him- while you picked his buddies off. The story is horrific, but I'm not sure other than its sensationalism, why it should be judged false. It's physically possible. I'll be interested to see what Snopes comes up with in a bit. In terms of shooting the bears- well, that's evolution in action. Bears that don't eat humans survive. Bears that eat humans don't reproduce any more. What gets bred into bears DNA is- don't eat humans, they're not good for you- same as eating anything else that's poisonous. Let's face it, there just aren't going to be all that many humans in Siberia anyhow.... Sam

DYB, PA has a habit of looking for sensationalist articles and swallowing them hook line and sinker then reposting for our enjoyment whether they have an ounce of truth in them of not. think "Weekly World News"

did you read the article pahunkboy? she ran 70 yards before the bear grabbed her leg; it's likely that the bear immobilized her then. bears can break bones without even thinking about it. pretty horrific story, but people seriously need to stay away from bears. does anyone remember Grizzly Man?
