This has been a huge story all day here in Little Rock: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/20/us/20arkansas.html It's 18 years past time for these innocent people to be free. It sucks that it was an Alford plea but at least they're home. There's no way they can get back all that was robbed from them but at least they're out of prison. Finally. luci

very strange.. if the so called Justice system believes that these men are guilty then why let them out of jail and one of them was on death row.. all they had to do was plead guilty??? wtf? The system just doesnt do that with child killers, period. Something is wrong with that picture,.. if these guys are innocent and the system knows they were convicted when they shouldnt have been, then let them out as free innocent men..

You don't get it. The real perps were apparently out all that time. That gives them more work to do and bewail the feds for more money because crime has not decreased. They get more aid for law enforcement as well, bolstering the budgets of LEOffices all over, while the problem goes unsolved. Don't you know that the best way to make money is to get paid to solve a problem and never solve it ? It really is the most profitable way. Any other kids get killed since then ? If so it may have been the real perps of this crime. This spreads the tax money around to the right places, the places THEY want them spread to, get it ? The fact is that we are a nation of criminals, but even that does not explain our astounding rate of incarceration. If all these people in jail are the real criminals, there should be no crime. If they are not, it explains alot of things. T^T

The WM3 were likely going to get new trials and stood a reasonable chance of winning acquittals. The state was basically cutting its losses. They get to keep the guilty verdict in the form of guilty pleas - more important to them. The WM3 get to go free for sure instead of banking on new trials that they might not win. To exonerate them would mean that those hick prosecutors would have to admit they fucked up. Not going to happen outright although this is a defacto admission that they fucked up and got the wrong guys. I think the state knows these men are innocent but this is the only way they can save face. I am watching the first of three documentaries on the WM3 called "Paradise Lost". It's pretty frightening to watch the wheels of small town law work.

Thats why i left right after i turned 17, couldnt stand the place and small minded people. Yeah, sounds like the city/prosecutors didnt want to get sued for millions of dollars, so to cover their ass and deny these men compensation if found innocent at trial, they arm twisted them into a deal.. totally sleazy!

Yes but then they would have had to have admitted they were wrong and I have found they don't like doing that.

This bothers me tremendously. Three young kids were browbeaten until they confessed, and were then convicted. The justice system screwed them. To get out, they were forced to confess, thus eliminating any possibility that the criminals within the system would get punished for jailing three innocents. The system's broken. It won't get fixed as long as those accountable for its rampages are not held accountable.

I think I saw the docu's about this, Paradise lost. Was very disturbing...how it all went. They were accused of satanic rituals, not?

As unsettling as it is to think about innocent people sitting in jail, it bothers me more to think about the time wasted catching and putting the one(s) in jail who actually did it. By now there is probably no evidence to track him/them down and catch them. What a waste! #7

If only Nancy Grace had prosecuted them... they might have been acquitted for prosecutorial misconduct.
