Perhaps you are feeding her a brand of dog food that has a low percentage of ground up condemned carcass anus?

I guess she'll be switching to Tuffy's soon, huh?

I often joke that my dogs eat better than most humans do, and in this case it is really true! LOL. I would not feed canned dog food to my dog, much less a human. What ever floats your boat. With the high amounts of fat dogs need though I really hate to think what the end result is...ewww. But, watch your pancreas imo. Probably best to buy canned chunky soup and pretend maybe, though that crap isnt much better than dog food.

This almost.... I'm pretty picky about what I feed my dogs. I have a dog that has allergies and she picks at her paws when she eats certain things. I don't often feed my dogs canned food. If I do I have to go to the pet store to get the natural brand I like and it's definitely more expensive. They tend to get chicken and rice cooked by me if they need a special diet for anything, but I feed my dog a more expensive brand of dog food that is natural no by products or corn fillers to prevent the allergies. My husband was not happy with the price of a bag of dog food the first time he went to buy it, but he understands now. In addition, the bags does last two-three months for the dogs.

 Although most dog food contains the same basic components that are in people food (protein, carbohydrates and fats) the proportions of these ingredients are different than in human food and can be harmful if ingested in significant quantities or for prolonged periods of time. The same is true if you feed a dog the wrong proportion of these nutrients by giving it an unbalanced human diet.Dog food contains many of the same ingredients as human food, like chicken, meat, and vegetables, but it may also contain animal by-products — for example, ground-up animal bones or organs like the intestines. The best advice you are going to get if you choose to do this is to make sure that it is short term and that there are other things put into place to make up for what you diet will end up lacking like vitamins, fresh fruits, and fresh veg.

Ok, the agriculture corporations put shit in human grade food that would have put dog food companies to shame 25 years ago. So, human grade food is garbage, so you can just imagine what the industry puts in dog food. Don't eat it. It could permanently damage you health. I know it is a fetish, but it is one of those ones that could kill you. You shouldn't even feed your dog commercial dog food.

could kill you? huh....all those poor people I know who eat it to survive seem to be doing pretty well so far....still breathing, still very much alive and as far as any of us know, still in good health.

Yeah it's fatty, yeah it's not the best pieces of meat <basically the same pieces of meat I grew up with...gristle, fat, old pieces, roadkill, all the meat a person won't normally eat because they consider it below them>, but ya know, people live off the stuff.

I don't know what to tell you. When my dog got mast cell rumors, which are basically caused by a histamine reaction, several vets told me it was a reaction to the garbage in the commercial pet foods I had been feeding her. Also dogs have a much higher resistance to salmonella than humans, that's how they eat some of the shit they do without dying. Dog food is offal. It is really not that cheap either, since it is one of the profit centers for grocery stores. Ramen noodles and cheap Mac and cheese are probably cheaper.

i have been fed dog food on occassion with no ill effects. The better brands rather than the generic or cheap brands may be better for you. i was fed ALPO chunks and although not the best tasting meal, not the worse meal i was ever fed by my MASTERS. i would think it would be ok once in awhile but not good as a permanent food source

ETA:  FYI, dog food is more strictly regulated and cleaner than people food.  People feel animals can't stand up and speak for themselves so they set higher standards than our own food.

do you have a source for this? that literally makes no sense. =p
dog food is often comprised of "animal digests" and "meat by-products" that you could not literally offer for human consumption. a lot of it is slaughterhouse waste and sometimes downer animals. the ingredients are rendered down and foods are formulated to see to the bare minimum of a dog's nutritional needs as determined by AAFCO. how is that cleaner or a higher standard? =p

Cleaner = less insect parts allowed

"A tin of sardine flavored pet food doesn't sound appealing to us, human. But it turns out that pet food isn't only good for your pet's health but also to yours as well, research suggested."  (more...)

"In terms of fat, sugar, and salt content, canned pet food might be a better choice than fast food meals at places like McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken."  . . . and etc.

There are many studies, too many to reference all.  Hit Google, you'll be astounded if you didn't know about this already.
~~~~~~~~
A pet can't choose it's meals so some standards are more strict.  An ex of mine was head butcher in a chain and brought home the paperwork to share with me because she thought it was ironic that pets got cleaner food than people.
On the other hand, until recently, they allowed meat from animals that died of disease in pet food.
Dog food is parts of the animal we don't eat fyi. The dog food companies also get animals like sick horses and old animals euthanized by toxins to make their meet from. Go with Dry at least its baked to death. The thought made me throw up a little in my mouth...
There's good and bad dog food, just as there's fillet steak and junk food.
Examine the fine print.. reject anything that includes words like "meat products".. :-)
Pay a little more and get a healthier dog.
In the 50's, U S Army C rations many (not all) canned meals were packed by Rival - Yep, the same folks that sold canned Rival Dog Food.
Just sayin . . . .
Dog food is parts of the animal we don't eat fyi. ...
Part of the reason people get diseases is because they don't eat all the parts of an animal.  Our bodies were designed to eat bones, cartilage, skin etc.  Evolution takes a very long time to change things and our body still requires most of the things it was originally designed for long ago.  From an evolutionary view, we only recently stopped using our appendix.  Eating that stuff good for you and you will live longer and healthier.
No, eating dog food exclusively isn't good for you.  But the OP said 1 can a day.  That certainly wouldn't hurt.  However, many dry foods are better than the wet ones.
Puppy Chow FTW!
If that's what he enjoys, then why not. You are 40 years old, it shouldn't be too hard for you to determine if it's safe or not. Have fun
Let's think this through here. What you are talking about is 1/3rd of your food intake every day that consists of exactly the same thing. Be it dog food, fast food, veggies, twinkies/junk food, or grazing in a wheat field....you are consistantly eating something that takes up 1/3 of your daily food intake. This is a fairly significant portion.
Ideally each meal should provide a balanced offering of vitamins, minerals, etc while providing protein, carbs, and fat. If it doesn't, your other 2 meals should make up for the lack. Do people do ok with the occasional junk food/fast food meal? Yeah, sure. But we can all agree that it's not good for you. Fast food or junk food does not have the optimal mix of vitamins, or enough fiber, but it does have too much fat. We're all aquainted with that. If we ate fast food for one meal every day without fail it would definitely affect our bodies in a negative way. Watch Supersize Me for a good view of that scenario, although the subject in that movie ate fast food for every meal, not just one.
Dog food isn't formulated for people. Cat food isn't formulated for dogs. Dogs and cats aren't supposed to eat table/human food. We're not all the same and different creatures need different things in different concentrations to remain healthy.
Sure, dog food won't kill you, but it's not OPTIMAL nourishment for your body. You're not talking about an occasional meal here, it's 1/3 of your food intake every single day. I would have to conclude that in time you would start having issues somewhere. If you're dead set on doing it- be an informed consumer and figure out what you're taking in for vitamins/fiber/protein/fat/carbs at the dog food meals, and either add more of something to your other meals, or cut back on other things at those meals as well. It would be a shame to become ill to satisfy your kinky desires.
