I probably wouldn't know a perfect owner if one jumped on my head and that is the point to this thread. It's not if I'm looking or have found or anything else, it's what CONSTITUES a perfect owner which is probably purely hypothetical. If more were to think of the question objectively and not internalize or take it as a personal affront, then what should emerge is an image of those criteria that denote probability. Maybe Icarys has more a point than I thought.

No personal affront taken, but let Me see if I can put it another way.

I've been clip's owner for the last four years.  In his opinion, I'm a pretty good one, but for other people, I wouldn't be.  You mentioned the "ingredients" for a perfect owner.  Well, one of My personal ingredients in a dynamic happens to be high protocol.  That's great for clip but isn't a good fit for some submissives out there.

Make sense?

And as Lady Pact pointed out, highly individualized.

I initially was going to answer your question with an arrow pointing to my profile pic and the laughing smiley, but I know people *still* wouldn't get it was a joke. [;)]

Are you trying to argue there are no reasonable, objective criterion for what would constitute a good owner?

As for the OP, as luckyalbatross used to say, don't seek a stable of partners, seek stable partners. Your identification of financial management as a necessary building block has you on the right track. I might add a few others, people skills and healthy self esteem. The ability to think independently and fairly.

Track records are a helpful yardstick. If you want a LT relationship, it would be reassuring to know that your Domme had been in a relationship for an appreciable amount of time in the past.

As a closing statement, I would say that an ideal owner has the capacity to understand who and what he "owns." Without that, she's grasping at straws -- and in the case of a relationship with you, probably missing the mark.

I think some of the responders to you are confusing "yardsticks" with absolute truths -- overcompensating thereafter into the realm of unhelpful relativism.

i'm the perfect owner. just fucking ask heather.
I agree. The perfect owner is one who understands that ownership is primarily a responsibility rather than an entitlement. One who puts the best interests of the owned before everything else. One who understands that they have been given control not merely for their own gratification, but because the owned person is trusting them to make the decisions and give the guidance and orders that will insure the owned person the best possible life, regardless of if it a pleasant or enjoyable course of action for the owner. In short, one just like Hanners.

Perfection im afraid is non existent. It is a fantasy of the deluded whether that be Domme, slave or any other orientation, its the utopian ideal, but its not reality
