August 20 is Lemonade Freedom Day! In response to a rash of kids' lemonade stands shut down for lack of licenses, permits, or other bureaucratic devices, father-of-two Robert Fernandes launched a site to promote a big citrusy celebration this Saturday. So go find some young 'uns and get ready to help them set up a lemonade stand for liberty.

I am actually not sure about Lawrence's rules on Lemonade stands, however in the 'things for kids to do during the summer' booklet thing they print, a lemonade stand was one of them.

If I see any lemonade stands today, I will certainly buy a cup. Although it is overcast, humid and sticky out right now!

Possibly. I have seen all sorts of articles discussing the marketing of lemonade stands this year.

On a serious note, has he thought about a hot dog cart? I know that here, there are minimal regulations to comply with and it can bring in a nice chunk of money.

Well, your generation did throw his generation under the bus, what with your gambling addiction.

So his income supplementing will begin long before he turns 65.

Right now between the payments on a cart, the waste water disposal fees, the commercial drivers license fees, the food cart license fees, the liability insurance, the gas.......

Besides, in CA it would have to be a tofu hot dog cart, and my religion wouldnt allow him to. [:D]

(On a more pleasant note, after 2 years and 5 other jobs he's finally landed at a place where hes making close to 100k (before taxes [:@] ) in a 9-5 commission only job, if his first two months results hold up. The lemonade stand will just help him upgrade from an Audi to a Mercedes, lol)

Mixed feelings about this.  The guy runs an illegal lawn care business and then blogs to protest the occasional crackdown on kiddie ventures?  Some example you set, there, daddy.

Sounds like he's got a solution in search of a problem.

You can live anywhere, where people in different cities have different vending and licensing laws. How come the people who *choose* to live in certain cities and who find themselves harmed by their own life choices suddenly proclaim the 'woe is me' routine while blaming others?  Personal responsibility, anyone?

How many people really check on whether or not their 5 to 10 year olds will be allowed to have a friggin lemonade stand when they choose to move because of a new job?

Add to that, folks who are living in the same town/city they grew up in, and had a lemonade stand when they were kids?

What are kids supposed to do for spending money? Rioting and looting?

Ya know, it pretty much sucks that their are not kids asking to shovel the walks for money anymore. I would pay.

My last winter in NJ we actually had a few kids ask, and the driveway was 90-100 yards long. I think I would have been arrested for child abuse! There were days I would have paid a kid to take the garbage out to the end of the driveway though!

lol Ok, now i am curious.. what type of product/service does he sell with his commission only job?

If he is doing that well at a new job, he sounds like quite the salesman... [:)]

Glad you liked it. Every once in a while my activist side surfaces. Sadly, in this case it was misdirected.
