singlefedora -> Once outed there is no going back (8/20/2011 4:55:47 PM)

So one of our members has been outed from this site by huffingtonpost. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/01/david-lee-embattled-unva-_n_915427.html

Pulled right off of Collarme. This is the reason I fear pics on here. I don't think this man and his sub have much of a chance now in there careers at the position he held. My thoughts are with them. Take care everyone. Internet is a dangerous thing.

Actually, wasn't it something he may have been involved with that caught the attention of officials investigating criminal things going on at the collage? Seems to me, that if he had kept his private life private and didn't do anything from work or work computers, he might have been able to protect himself.

old news, there's been a couple of threads on it already. sucks to be them, but fuck it, they can sue the immigration guys who outed them.

mind you, his own fault for bookmarking the site and not clearing his cache and history and shit. and he accessed it from his work computer - also pretty fucking dumb.

No, but what people do on it can be self damaging.  I don't have facial shots here.  I'm comfortable with my activity and don't find danger in it.  If I were OK with anyone in the world knowing about my participation here and the intimate goings on in my relationship, I'd put facial shots.

I don't feel outed, and I don't feel endangered.

akisha -> RE: Once outed there is no going back (8/20/2011 8:21:12 PM)

I outed myself at work years ago by accident.

My family and friends have been aware for years as well.

So I don't think my profiles on cm, fet, or bondage can really do me any harm.

But if you don't want to be found out, ya don't use face shots and don't access these sites from work. kind of common sense there.

If you put yourself out there...be ready for the consequences...just sayin'.

DeviantlyD -> RE: Once outed there is no going back (8/20/2011 9:49:16 PM)

He had posted on one of the forums (I forget which one) asking for help from "the community". I don't know what he expected anyone here would be able to do.

The thread got yanked. Musta been viewed as a bit litigious. ;)

Huffington wasn't responsible for his being outed. Somewhere someone thought it relevant to document his being a member of CM in an official report... .
Was it relevant, of course not.

But somehow his information was readily accessible, either from a personal device that was seized as part of the investigation or from his using his work computer to log on.
