Thanks! The thing is that it really should be all-encompassing as it's just plain supporting the troops. It really shouldn't be so divided up which is what annoyed me. Maybe I'll send an email of my own once I've had enough coffee to be coherent.

yeah i agree; i wonder if there's some reason for it. like a legal thing? i can't imagine but maybe i don't understand how things work there. GBCC shops are located on forward operating bases -- do the militaries of each country set up their own FOBs? (can anyone who knows more clarify that? =p)

well i got a reply to my email from someone at GBCC and she said that anyone in the world can contribute to COJ... sooo i'm not totally sure what might've been your issue. what happened when you tried to do it?

No that's not true. When I tried, the only options were US cities/states. It wasn't possible to choose a Canadian city/province.

For those unaware, Tim Hortons helped established a restaurant in Kandahar in 2006 at the request of the Canadian military. We have supported soldiers for many years, with coffee donations to forces in Kuwait, an annual coffee donation through Operation Santa Claus, and on July 1, with free coffee and donuts at the Kandahar base store. This past spring, Tim Hortons provided 60,000 special-edition Roll Up the Rim cups just for the Kandahar store and gave away computers and cash.

If you want to also support military overseas, here's how:

The Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS) is a department within the Canadian military that accepts donations for various military family trust funds. The CFPFSS also accepts Tim Cards and will distribute them to the soldiers in Afghanistan. Donations or Tim Cards can be sent to:

ITs a shame it doesnt cross borders as Ive tried for the US chaps and gals too, but hey I think they deserve TImmies!!!!

Yeah that's good and all but the thing I like about the US on is it's more personal and a message of support can be sent. It isn't the coffee as much as the direct show of support that appeals to me.
