I'm pretty comfortable in the side I was on.

Predicting how revolutions will change a people, for or against you, isn't something you can judge up front. How that plays out in Libya, time will tell. Either way, I'm always on the side of people who are willing to fight for their liberty.

I supported Obama going into it, and will support this action coming out of it. That doesn't change the fact that when it comes to needing an ally, Obama isn't the man I'd put my faith in. If he demonstrated anything, it was the inability to make a decision until the world agreed with him. A couple more days of waffling and there would have been no revolution to ponder. That's how close G/Q/K - pick your spelling  - was to crushing the rebels.

France took the lead on this and I wholeheartedly agree with Obama's reluctance to become involved.

And I think he did so only because of our NATO obligations.

I'm tired of our tax money being spent on foreign involvements while people complain social security is going broke and we can't afford a single-payer system.

Look at how much money has been wasted in Iraq.

Yeah, like I said, asswipe.

Talking heads claiming this or that are trying to turn a buck, it dont make them any more in the know than you or I.

Since we are dirty hands in Iraq, it is not in our best interests to jump in feet first and ask questions later, it turns out that it doesnt work well, again look at Iraq.

We got the catcalls and gainsayers on the somali pirates...oh why doesnt he do something now, yesterday, today, this minute....ignorant people characterized that as waffling then.

The pirates died, and we got our guys back.

I would think that all said all in, the reason all this obfuscation and misdirection and back room dealing took place was at least 3 fold:

1. Do not give Ghaddafi a heads up re our plan.
2. To analyse and formulate a plan of action and policy that you dont have to go armtwisting for, and has some sliver of a chance of success (in other words learn from the idiocy of Iraq).
3. To do this in such a way that you dont have the congress involved, so we don't go into Iran instead of Libya, cuz you get them guys involved, the goal is lost sight of, but there will be actions taken...

But like the somali pirates (2x now) bin Laden, and now looking like Libya, the idea is to not broadcast the plan to the imbeciles for gainsay.

They get there fill of it during and after.
