Enjoy.

Actually, I thought I did.  I gave the OP information that was not yet included on the thread.  You had answered the thread before I came along.  You could have just told him.

I quite understood his post, though admittedly it is a bit scattered and reeks of nervousness and typographical errors. He is looking for a way to show others in his life who know what to look for that he is in the market for a slave without showing the general public, which is a very reasonable question for someone with ambition who doesn't want to be 'the whips and chains guy' first and foremost in the eyes of those who stand to advance his position in the world. If it is immaturity to desire success and privacy may we all die so immature.

Believe it or not, I understood his post quite well, too.

While the question may be reasonable to ask, the premise isn't. Just as there are no unicorns, subs aren't roaming around with "submissive" written across their foreheads, either. Even a 21yo should know there are no universal secret handshakes for a lifestyle readily accessed by anyone using the Internet.

Perhaps if you substitute "naive" for "immature" in that last (quoted) sentence, you might not be so quick to embrace his ideals.

Focus.

Except that someone who is new (regardless of age) wouldn't...which is why he asked.

more that she's likely still smarting from a recent bout of "foot in mouth" posting that was supposed to be at my expense. (Yeah, I know, it's all about me)

Sorry but no I wasn't and I'm not. You could have chosen to answer his question which was whether there is a universal symbol he could use to let s-types out there know he's
kinky. Instead you chose to address his age and (among other things) tell him to come back when he's more mature.

OP You've had some good advice. I will echo ML and say that it's generally a good idea to not advertize so loudly. Oh and yes some of us are looking for a D-type who is a nice guy.

I was actually impressed that you did address the OP - you do it so rarely these days.

Not that you're alone in that department....

Oh well, if you say so.... Do I really have to remind you that I actually had the foul-mouthed half of the Hannah/Heather carnival sideshow sticking up for me over *your* gaffe? Like that'll happen twice in the one millenium....

Oh come on, I'm not about to recommend symbols I don't believe in myself. Best left for those who do...

And age is relevant, like it or not! The young "doms" that come here aren't doing it out of some primal need otherwise missing from their adult lives - because they've barely lived any to appreciate the difference. It's the age of the Internet; they come here primarily because they can.

It's like this month's red-hot video game that inevitably evolves into next month's big snore. I'm happy to help anyone but they have to show me they've got something about their dominant selves to begin with. Because otherwise, what you're really doing is helping them deceive equally naive submissives.

The OP's shown buggar-all beyond a pitiful desire to be found.... And what tha hell is a "medical professional", anyway? If he meant doctor, or doctor in training etc, then he'd have said as much. I am soooo not convinced of his motives or substance.

So here's some OP advice maybe you can appreciate:

Say what you mean, mean what you say and (re workplace sex talk) stick to your principles. The confidence to be your own man who's comfortable in his own skin is an excellent way to attract a submissive type's notice. And here's the kicker - you can do all of that whether you're a bona fide arsehole or a "nice guy".

So zeph, this "Hanners' cellar" - anything to do with my aforementioned sideshow? 'Cause if so, that would've been quite a kick in the groin for you when she defended "old bullethead".... ;)

Focus.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: recognition and transition (9/13/2011 10:06:49 AM)

Actually it's no bIg deal that she agreed with you. Friends do that once in a while. So no it wasn't a "kick on the groin".

As for the age issue, even if most of the young D-types are here for a wank, the OP came here asking for advice which you finally gave him...though I did notice you also felt the need to take one last shy at him.

Unsubstantiated bullshit, Focus.  I've got damn near twenty thousand posts.  At minimum, at least half of those are on BDSM related topics.  You'd be hard pressed to prove that My first comment on the majority of those was not on topic, nor that it was "rare" that I answered a question.  Please feel free to check the facts for yourself.  The site makes it very convenient to go through a person's last fifty or one hundred posts to see just how they do generally answer in their first reply on a thread.

Of course, everyone has their occasion to reply a question that they felt was inappropriate or was specifically out to slant a demographic where they may not answer the question at all.  Unfortunately, the authors of some posts such as these seem to remain butt hurt for a very long time.

Focus50 -> RE: recognition and transition (9/14/2011 4:06:30 AM)

Unsubstantiated???

For memory, I've started two whole topics (3 tops) in my 7 yrs at CM. The last one was a few months back - "Dommes and Doggy-style". Note how your transparent, pre-emptive "butt hurt" has no affect.

Your "contribution" was 5 disruptive posts without word one on topic.

Now you'll understand if I'm not making it my business to stalk you on site to hoover up all your pearls of wisdom in general, right? But a perfect 5 zip in one topic is substantiated to me....

Focus.

LadyPact -> RE: recognition and transition (9/14/2011 4:21:36 AM)

Has it really only been three?  I would have thought you'd have more than that.

So, if you are stating three, from where are you getting the five?

I'll give you any reasonable ground that you would like to take.  I will assure you that do I routinely ask that some folks who post their ad to the discussion forums get moved?  Yes.  Do I often ask that thread having nothing to do with BDSM get removed from the General board?  Yes.

As for stalkers, I have quite enough of those, tyvm.  You can take My word or not.  For whatever your preconceived notion, have I ever lied to you?

Is that like real life friends, as in you've met both? 'Cause I'm convinced H&H is just the one person. Some say not even a female person, but one conspiracy at a time for moi....

Whoa - I gave him sound advice first time. Think he heeded it, too; don't think he's been back.

As for the advice you're referring to, well it's not really advice to anyone who hasn't got the stones to be themselves in a group.

"Three" is my estimated maximum number of topics started at CM. Lol, I really do know it all, so I generally don't need to ask.... [8D] As for where I'm getting "the five", that's the number of your posts in my last topic (D's & Doggy).

And question 3 would be - do you regularly point newbies to the search function when they ask a reasonable (if common) question? Yes?

Hmmmm, not sure stalkers actually require the target's permission.... But lol, you and all women are safe from me. For all our recent differences, I've never had a problem taking your word for anything. Almost seems a bizarre comment to make, actually - unless you're counting the "unsubstantiated" type sparring? I don't....

Focus.

LadyPact -> RE: recognition and transition (9/14/2011 5:21:37 AM)

Focus,

Damn.  Where to begin?

You know, if you get those five from that one thread, I'm going to tell you to do the math.  Really?  What percent is that?

Most folks don't get why they get steered to the search function.  Doesn't it ever occur to anybody on these forums that there just might be something on these forums that might be a better perspective than you or I would say?  I know this is strange for you, but I don't feel that I know it all.  There are fruits out there that I have never tasted.  I know that people speak more eloquently voice their own personal experience than I could ever relate.  Are you really quite sure, Focus, that it is all about My ego?

Focus, I do not fear you.  There is no reason to do so.

If nothing else, Focus, I have always admired the courage of your convictions.

Buzzzz -> RE: recognition and transition (9/14/2011 5:37:19 AM)

What LadyPact says. The flagging. Look it up online and you will see the different colors and sides for the things you like. The sub looking for a dom would have to know what it means though !!! the most reliable way of doing things would be to go to your local munch and meet local perverts. Network..

And if you want to keep it private and discreet I recommend you remove your face pic from your profile. A coworker, or boss, or future boss maybe looking .

100%. Of course, we use the metric system here....

That third question (previous post) is somewhat of an annoyance to me. It's not just you, btw, but newbies strike up the courage for their first public post and there always seems to be some old stager impatiently pointing them to the search function. Beyond the technology of new toys, there really isn't any new questions in BDSM, just new people.

And I figure that if you haven't got the patience to answer properly, then don't post. Of course, going on my CM average, it'll be about 20 years before I hit 20,000 posts. Frankly, I think this pushing newbies straight to "search" is both counter-productive to encouraging new blood to the general discussions and often how long dead threads spring back to life - which pisses even the Mods off. Dunno why they don't automatically lock them after a year or so....

Weeeeell, you're the only I know who gives yourself caps.... Hey, you asked! lol

This is getting a tad silly.... There is no "me" here to fear, just words on a screen.

To be continued - falling asleep here....

Well it's not the foul-mouthed incarnation, but you all might as well just adjust your calendars to 3001, because I am pretty much agreeing with Focus here. I understood his original post to mean that the OP's question was nonsensical, not that he didn't understand it. I resent the adultist swipes he threw in, but that's a well established pet peeve of mine.

Then this is official confirmation that the Hannah-Heather show is a one person operation?

Focus.

LadyPact -> RE: recognition and transition (9/14/2011 2:58:04 PM)

I wouldn't guess what pisses Mods off.  I'm not one.  As another regular poster, I find that adding comments to an old thread silly.  Shoot, I read books all of the time.  I don't expect My commentary to be added to print.

And I figure that if you haven't got the patience to answer properly, then don't post.

You might want to look in the mirror, Focus.

That is a rather pointless question don't you think? You are already convinced of it, so there really is no point in disputing it with you, anything I say would just be disregarded. That, and your opinion of our individual existences or lack thereof is somewhat less important to us than a random 3 year old Chuvan's opinion of the best way to pick his nose.

DeviantlyD -> RE: recognition and transition (9/14/2011 10:22:17 PM)

Chuvan's's? *eep*

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: recognition and transition (9/14/2011 10:39:09 PM)

Thank you for pointing that one out. It has now been fixed. [:)]
