pahunkboy -> ADD drug shortage! (8/23/2011 7:36:42 AM)

I have about had it with how impossible it is to get my prescription!   I cant blame the pharmacy-  because that class of drugs is listed as a shortage on the FDA website.

Thank God for the American health care system, eh?

NuevaVida -> RE: ADD drug shortage! (8/23/2011 1:42:14 PM)

You can thank the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), who limited the release of the main active ingredient, due to the potential for abuse.  The number of prescriptions has risen greatly (24.2 million in 2010) and the DEA did not adjust for that.  They are increasing the supply this month.

WSJ Article here.

On this issue no.   I been on this since the 80s- when it was $12 for an rx-  today it is $300.   Figure that the copay is now what the price used to be.   This is a simple medication- it has been around for ages.

You're welcome, hunky.  From what I read, a lot of people are suffering because of it.  I hope you get your meds soon.

http://www.fda.gov/drugs/drugsafety/drugshortages/ucm050792.htm     here is the current list of drug shortages.   The ADD pills- ok- not life threatening- but some of the meds on it are life threatening....   this is of concern- and really there is no excuse for it.

Hunky most of these are the injectable version not pills. Still quite few are chemo drugs, which is alarming.

I seem to recall reading that Adderall is the weight loss drug du jour for those skinny bitch starlets and singers, etc so they can stay super skinny.. There are some others they use too.. But i am guessing they dont have any problem getting their prescriptions filled.. [8|]

Ya know...when I filled my first prescription for the once a week shots I am currently using for my JRA, I about keeled over when I saw the price. My copay is 3 bucks per script, I saved 6893.83 with my insurance. This is for a 3 months supply, that is 12 needles.

Prices on meds are ridiculous!

I have taken both-  as well as concerta, and foculon.    Everything but staterra.

The insurance will not pay for time released or name brands-  they have given me grief and my dr has had to change the med 6 times now.   seriously.  It is so bad I complained to my congressman over it, as well as the PA insurance commission.

I do not know which one would be cheaper if say I paid cash.

OH_ and the ins wont allow  30mg a day-   only 20 mg-  where as I should have 30 mg.

It is pathetic, because this med was $12 in the 80s.

My Drs office has argued with the ins co, and after 6 changes over the past 2 years- I hate to pester the DR for anything.
