A "fake" can only allow you to waste as much time as you allow them to. And honestly, if you have any brains you can tell a fake pretty quickly.

So do you think this is a good idea?

Well, I think it's quite brilliant!

I'm going to start with you (surely you won't mind since it was your idea!)

Your photo creeps me out and not in a good way. You have paintball listed under 'lives for' and that's pretty weird if you ask me. Are you literally going to die if you can't play paintball? You're in the UK so already way too far away and you're younger than all my children so you make me feel old. I'm not crazy about the color scheme on your profile and you made an OP that is yet another variation of a whine for blacklisting.

Overall, on a scale of 1 - 10.. I give you a 2.

Is that what you meant by rating?

Dude you really, really need a life. Seriously most of us just don't spend that much time thinking about the fakes. Besides who gets to decide who is fake and who isn't.

~grabs some popcorn and sits down to watch the show~

stoni23 -> RE: Should Collar Me Introduce Ratings? (8/25/2011 4:19:20 PM)

worst idea ever. The fakers/scammers generally create new profiles after they fake a few people. You'd have to tie a rating to someone's IP address, and even that is easily changeable.

The only thing that will stick from this:
All this will do is cause real people to get bad ratings from idiots or people that don't like them on the boards.

But given "the world is what you make of it" don’t blame anyone else when someone discusses their fantasies with you over a period of weeks-months, arranges to meet up with you, and never shows up.

Well:

A) My profile says that I just here for the forums....so shouldn't be discussing fantasies with anyone.

B) Even when I was single I wouldn't spend weeks-months discussing fantasies. I had a rule that I didn't discuss my sex life with anyone until I had met them face to face and had gotten to know them. I'm smart enough to know that if the first and overwhelming subject is sex......chances are all they care about is getting their rocks off. If you're not smart enough to realize that, caveat emptor.

Hey, Bita, I gave you a negative rating because you decided to hook up with Himself instead of staying single for me.  I just thought you'd like to know.

littlewonder -> RE: Should Collar Me Introduce Ratings? (8/25/2011 7:17:23 PM)

bad idea and if that happened here I'd be gone that same day.

I'm not here for the ones I have rejected to leave rude feedback just because they're pissed that I wouldn't talk to them.

I quite agree.

Hello, people are always complaining about the (seemingly) ever more prolific, number of time wasters. To counteract this, I believe everyone should be entitled to leave feedback about everyone on here.
There are at least two obstacles to this…
1. A time wasters can just delete their account, and create a new one with a neutral rating.
2. A more motivated time waster would set up a fake e.g. Female Dom profile(s) to compliment their fake e.g. Submissive mail profile.

So the only way to stop this would be for Collar Me to still allow people to 100% delete their account, but to somewhere (in their computer system) record the IP address of all past users for say e.g. 2 years, plus.

Of course there are still ways to get fake IP addresses, and someone controlling computers with more than one IP address could still rate their own profile. However at least it would be a lot harder for the 90% of time wasters who simply can’t be bothered to do this, and it could be a made a bit harder too if the average user ratings, of the average positive-negative ratter of your profile was published as well (i.e. if everyone to have given you a bad-good rating has themselves a bad rating, then that indicates not all is as it seems).

So do you think this is a good idea?

Not to try to sound callous, but here is this

Now for the nuts and bolts even if it WAS a good idea..(which I obviously do not think so either)

We have over a million members...so, are you going to pay for the space for this, and the programming involved to cross match everyone that tries to start another account on the sly, so they dont get matched up with the old account? Are you going also to answer all the supports that will come in when someone is "wrongfully" matched and their ips are matched? Last but not least, you gonna answer the lawsuit and be financially responsible when someone somehow possibly does get crossed with another user, or be financially responsible when the site is promoting blacklisting and that user happens to be of a non caucasian race, so decides to sue the site for discrimination?

DeviantlyD -> RE: Should Collar Me Introduce Ratings? (8/26/2011 4:38:01 AM)

Yowza, over a million members! I didn't realize. Can you imagine the moderation clean-up if they all decided to hop onto the boards? *grins*

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Should Collar Me Introduce Ratings? (8/26/2011 4:48:39 AM)

Your point? I have some on standby from other areas, don't be givin peeps ideas!!!![:D]

Edit: truthfully, I would love them..then maybe some people would realize that not all the posters are the moderators with their sockpuppets because although not possible now, would be apparent even to those that must have had a head injury recently. Plus, it would give more people with even more different ideas about subjects(oh yes, and more people that like to have cheese with their choice of beverage on these boards too)[;)]

Well, if you ever do decide to change that policy and begin selectively blacklisting non Caucasians, I suggest RochSub.  He's enticing far too many wimmins on this site.  They should all be MINE!

hardcybermaster -> RE: Should Collar Me Introduce Ratings? (8/26/2011 5:09:06 AM)

typical lazy arse mods, someone comes up with a brilliant idea and they can't be bothered to lift a finger.
I bet they won't remove this cos it would be too much like hard work

Yeah, those cheese and beverage people need to add a chill pill to the mix. :D

As for those who think the mods=regular posters and/or have sock puppets? Pfffft. That's their problem. Seriously. If your biggest concern is that you believe there's a mod or few masquerading around as a regular poster? Then you're missing out on the more important things in life.

Oh dear...I am heading dangerously close to cheese-land. :D

I suspected as much.
Could you also post a more realistic picture, say of a fat bloke in a badly fitting star trek uniform with a slice of pizza in one hand and a world of warcraft model in the other. Thanks

That was an attempt at humor, right?

You're a really good example here, so I'm going to ask if you've really thought this through.  In your three hundred and some odd posts that you've made, in your honest assessment, how do you think people would rate you?  Better yet, very specifically in your case, how do you think people would have rated you when you were right around the hundred post mark?

Right about now, a light bulb should be going off in your head about why this is a bad idea.
