Social Security is all but gone Loki, so I guess that means 3-way marriages are coming fast. If they allow 3-way marraiges, then they will have to allow 4 and 5 and 6 and 7.... way marraiges as well. Otherwise it will be 'discriminaiton.' {rolls eyes}

Hasn't anyone seen the news and how much to-do they're making over finding people like Warren Jeffs? (The self-proclaimed prophet of an offshoot sect of the Mormons who has multiple wives and too-numerous-too-count children with them. He's on the run from the law for sexual misconduct and some other things.) Though they should be after him. The authorities are so up in arms about any community that espouses multiple marriage partners (though would you say they are not all legal marriages? - but in their views, only in the eyes of God, which is what it is "supposed to be" anyway.) The conservative Christian population so outnumbers all the others, and their way is the "right" way. If it's not Biblical, they won't go for it. (Wow everything I type needs a parenthetical statement! lol) Anyway, If they won't legalize gay marriages because the Bible says marriage should be between 1 man and 1 woman, they will use the same argument against poly marriages. Those who believe in poly families in this lifestyle - or any other - will have to just do their thing and be quiet about it. Carolsea

There's going to be the Biblical objection, of course, but the most powerful objection is going to come from corporations and insurance companies. From their point of view, including same-sex domestic partners into the pool of those eligible for spousal benefits was bad enough. Allowing MULTIPLE spouses is just going to break the bank.

Considering that one of the (many) ridiculous arguments I've seen against legalizing gay marriage in this country is: "If you start letting gay people marry each other, next people will start demanding the right to polygamous marriages," I'd say, don't hold your breath waiting.
