Ryder dropped the cup? What the hell is that about? All that work all year long to get it and he kills it...

Not the first time and probably not the last.

Andryanna -> RE: Stanley Cup wounded in action (8/31/2011 10:39:51 AM)

I don't think it's a huge deal, but leave it to a Canadian to drop it.

I've often wondered what else they do with it, when we're not looking

Lucylastic -> RE: Stanley Cup wounded in action (8/31/2011 10:42:01 AM)

we will never tell and its canadian anyway so PFFFFFFFFFFFFFt

Arpig -> RE: Stanley Cup wounded in action (8/31/2011 10:52:29 AM)

It's been drop-kicked into the Rideau Canal and dumped in Messier's pool (it might have been Lemieux's...but my hockey-mad roomie is pretty sure it's Marc). So this is a traditional thing.

Oh and Andryanna...It is the Stanley Cup, named after Lord Stanley's , the Governor General of Canada who had it made to be the trophy for the Canadian championship, so it's ours to begin with, we let you guys play for it. So we'll beat the holy Hell out of it anytime we want to...we've been abusing it for roughly 100 years as it is.

IIRC some team left it on the side of the road and had to go looking for it when they sobered up.

Damn, Ken, you beat me to it!

but I am Canadian

I did get to touch the Stanley Cup once, even though we were told we couldn't. It's not like I would have body slammed it to the floor.
