Really I think his "career" outside of teaching shouldn't affect his er... performance in the classroom. [;)]

hahahaha Now that just has to make a school board proud. I wonder if he knows that his colleagues smoke and drink because one of them walked in to the place he was working at.

I don't think it's a fair judgement, as long as he doesn't bring the other side of his career to the classroom. Come on, no need hypocrisy here. Most of us have already have some knowledge in sex at early teenage time.

I bet this will not be a popular opinion... He should have been let go, he did mix his two careers by doing links to facebook that his students could access. He also posted in his adult website about teaching kids. To me this crosses a line, he could use a stage name easily and have a facebook profile with that name. He didn't need to mention he was a teacher on his adult site, that was information that wasn't needed. I'm not against the guy doing whatever he (legally) wants but he could easily keep the careers apart. If someone recognized his face someplace and called him out on it, I would say leave him be, but HE chose to post this info and link it

Furthermore, he is a teacher, which means if he is a good one, who students like he is a role model to them. People want to emulate their role models, especially children. I don't feel it is appropriate for his porn star career to be public to the point where his students know about it. I think there is nothing wrong with being a porn star- I don't like the idea of children aspiring to it either though.

Students told teachers they had seen a link on Facebook to a pornographic film trailer featuring Mr Garrett." I agree what he does in his own time is his buisness, BUT he choose to connect them. IF he doesn't have the sense to know that these two careers will cause problems, when mixed he probably aint that great a teacher anyway.

I think he shouldn't be punished by the relevant authority for being a porn star* because the fact remains that he isn't engaging in anything illegal but at the same time he should have kept that other side of his life more hidden out of consideration and professionalism more than anything else. He must have known it would embarrass the school bringing unwelcome media attention etc., and make things a bit "uncomfortable" with students having slightly more intimate knowledge of a teacher than they might normally have? [;)] *BTW, on a point of order, why is anyone who is in a porn movie automatically labelled a porn star?

Perhaps what you need to prove is that the link is in HIS teacher facebook. He has a facebook with the name of Johnny Anglais (have seen the facebook page) - how would anyone connect it with Mr. Garrett unless they were looking for porns? Of course now, when it's outed, he posted again the "confession of a porn teacher" - or things like that but the article doesn't say that Mr. Garrett has a teacher facebook and linked it to his porn facebook. If you have in the article the things to confirm your allegation, please do let us know.

I'm sure there's a morality clause in his contract. Teachers have been let go for having a picture of them with a glass of wine on their facebook (I found that one ridiculous) He crossed the line, he didn't even attempt to keep his two lives seperate, so now he'll have plenty of time for his porn career. Such as it is.

FFS, the guy teaches sex education. If we all agree that virgins should not teach the class (why would you hire a non-Spanish speaker to teach Spanish?), then the question then becomes exactly HOW MUCH sex the guy should have to make everyone happy.

Drinking a glass of wine is overkill, I agree. However, many employers check out employee and potential employees on social networking sites, if you keep your page public or I think if someone even tags you in a photo, it can be searched. What if his facebook had pictures of him puking drunk at a party? Is that an appropriate image for his students to see? As blushes says, there is usually a morality clause in teacher contracts. This wasn't his "private" life. Appearing on television ads and in porn films, by its very nature is public. Many professions don't even allow people to have second jobs, so what he was doing would be irrelevant. I don't think it is being puratanical to not want children to be taught that being promiscuous is great. No one wants their children taught that being a panhandler is a viable goal either. There is a difference between teaching people to be tolerant of other people's choices and having a poor role model. If prostitution were legal all over, how many would feel that a hooker speaking on career day was a good idea? How many want to raise their kids to suck dick for a living? Further, there is something creepy about the fact he was texting and facebooking with his students. The guy has no professional ethics or boundries.

What all we have here are assumptions from little information gathered from news. IF he molested his pupils, he wouldn't have escaped that easily. If he deliberately put porn links on his facebook relating to the pupils, he wouldn't have escaped that easily. Anyhow, do any of us really have any connection to his "teacher" facebook to make such assumption?

FR I thought the porn industry had at least a modicum of self respect. How could any of its fine upstanding members (Oh no, Missus!) want to associate professionally with a trainer of looters and rioters? On another note: I know a lecturer who did stripping, at one time. Fortunately, he got out of it before it got too public.
