PreciousT -> taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:33:10 PM)

I was reading some about taken in hand relationships and I was thinking that maybe this is really its own category that people should be able to define themselves as or if not going that far add it to the interest section.
Seems like women and men who identify themselves as this should have there own search profile.

I believe they already do. Their own websites.

i am talking about on cm either as something you can primarily define yourself as like slave or sub, or in the interests section.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:39:38 PM)

Okay. I will ask. What is "Taken in Hand"? and if it doesn't "fit" the very broad categories we have here, does it even belong on CM? As in, is there an audience for it here?

LaTigresse -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:39:47 PM)

Here's the deal as I see it. We are ALL unique individuals. The site could have a hundred different 'special' definers and someone would still come a long and want a new one.

I just pick the one closest to what I feel works best for me and call it good. If they want to know more they can read the damned profile or.......omg......send me a note and ask me for clarification.

I don't expect the, already over worked and under paid, staff of the site to customize this shit just for me.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:43:02 PM)

Have you by any chance had a look at the gor forum? You might find a few folks there that share the same or close to the same opinions that you do. As for it being it's own title or search the problem would be that there are so many different names for things that then everyone might want their own title. Example, little, gurl, boi, and so on.

ETA- And if by chance the site owners decide to start "humoring" folks about wanting different titles I want one that says DommeMommy [:)]

well it seems to me that if we have things like soap making, knitting, and you can choose to tell the world how much you love 80's music it would be a good idea to at minimum add this to the interests section. it is separate and and distinct from slavery or being a sub however it very much has to do with submission and dominance. I see a lot of profiles that link to taken in hand articles it seems that we should keep current as a community and add this developing sub set. i mean i bet living a taken in hand relationship is more popular then living an Edwardian lifestyle.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:45:57 PM)

Not if we don't know what it IS!! It's about submission, but there are no submissives?

For crying out loud..........there is NOTHING that is stopping you from putting it at the very BEGINNING of your profile and voila' problem solved.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:50:22 PM)

Yes, things at the beginning of a profile are MUCH more likely to be seen than lists.

The person in question could also add a web link or two that gives examples of what it means. That would help to make sure that they understand what is wanted.

PreciousT -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:52:06 PM)

I guess to me when I think slave I think Gorean lifestyle but I can see where not all slaves are gor, but i would think all gor females would see themselves as slaves. currently you can check gorean lifestyle in the lifestyle section of interests i just think taken in hand should be added to that list and wanted to post to see if there was support for the idea or not.

LaTigresse -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:52:48 PM)

I never read the damned lists. I mean, who cares if a person thinks they are an expert in ass washing or bird watching? Neither one is going to make or break my day.

It can be a clue to humor, though, when you have things like HARD LIMIT: crocheting.

Okay, now you've brought back a memory and I have to admit I apparently lied. I do remember seeing someone having bird watching as a hard limit and laughing.

LadyPact -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:57:31 PM)

This kind of reminds Me of the "suggestion" box over on the other site where folks expect the site to be tailor made to each and every whim that they personally have and instead of them just doing the easiest thing (typing it in on their profile) they want another box to check.

As far as the "keeping up with the community" jive, I'll buy that one when there's a "leather" option (rather than Old Guard) available.  In My opinion, the leather community has done far more to help expand the world of BDSM than the drops in the bucket than the Taken In Hand crowd has done.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 12:59:24 PM)

YES to a "Leather" choice, not that the right ones will choose it.

We must have seen the same person, LaT, I remember the birdwatching one and laughing.

LaTigresse -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 1:01:10 PM)

OR..........there are a lot more bird haters than there should be!

I agree LadyP, I am surprised that Leather isn't there to be honest!

Arpig -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 1:07:29 PM)

It is. It's in there under the Lifestyles category: 1950s Household.

LaTigresse -> RE: taken in hand its own category? (9/1/2011 1:09:54 PM)

Well there you are T! Problem solved.
