LadyPact -> A Proposition (9/1/2011 4:40:20 PM)

I'd be very interested to know how the Dominant women here (as well as the other folks who frequent this board) feel about a possible addition to the FAQ thread.

It seems that we still have a number of folks that really don't understand that this is a discussion board and not a place to put a personal ad.  I know, I know.  That information is already placed in the guidelines for the general forum, but somehow, people can't make the connection.

Yes, I know what you are probably thinking right now.  We already have to tell people constantly to read the FAQ in the first place.  I agree.  That is true.  However, if we added it here as well, at least we would have one reference point.  At the very minimum, we could at least copy/paste the section from the FAQ so folks can see that there personal ads do not belong here.  Some folks don't seem bright enough to translate what we have now.  (Are there any Mistresses here into X?)  Perhaps we just need a little more in this area.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

mummyman321 -> RE: A Proposition (9/1/2011 4:57:07 PM)

There is no harm in addeding to this forum but I do not think it will help by itself.

What might work is "No Personals Ads in the Forums" in bold just below the "New Post radio button in the forum. That would be hard to miss. Just a thought

Unfortunately I don't think the men who need to read that would. They are intent on their own little fantasy and could't care less about such things.

Not just men I fear... spambots... webcam strippers...

I don't think it could hurt to add it, whether it will help who knows?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: A Proposition (9/1/2011 5:40:28 PM)

I just don't think they'd pay attention. I am just for reporting them as usual.

Arpig -> RE: A Proposition (9/1/2011 5:44:58 PM)

I'm all for it. However, it, or Mummyman's idea, won't make any difference. This is a discussion forum so it is self explanatory that it is for discussion not for personals. The people who overlook this bit of obviousness are highly unlikely to pay any attention to any FAQ thread or notices on their screen.

The best thing we could do is to just ignore and report...but we all know we won't. [;)]

Tantriqu -> RE: A Proposition (9/1/2011 9:50:54 PM)

As above; no harm in putting it in politely for the squeaky-clean newbies: 'Newcomers can post a brief auto-bio on 'Introduce yourself', not here.
However, also as above and as we've seen, most think 'FAQ' is just another word for 'fwap' ;-) But since a significant portion of users don't have English as a first language, it helps to also spell it out as 'Frequently Asked Questions' or 'Common Questions and Answers', as well as a helpful 'READ BEFORE POSTING' command. I would also suggest taking out the 'Top' prefix since it has BDSM significance ;-)

Thanks for trying to make the forums even niftier, LP.

HannahLynHeather -> RE: A Proposition (9/1/2011 10:05:17 PM)

meh fuck em. if they are too fucking stupid to know how a message board works then they are shark bait...well then what can you say other than  YEA!! feeding frenzy!!!!

Epytropos -> RE: A Proposition (9/1/2011 10:09:16 PM)

Do people actually read those? Is that a thing anyone, anywhere dependably does? I honestly don't think I've ever read a FAQ/guideline/etc for a forum and I've posted on dozens over the course of my life.

Some do, many don't. Just like many do not read terms of service, warranties, copy writes on movies and cds and software, etc. This isn't true of just this site but many, many, many(add about a million more manys) things. It is a nice thought that it would change things, but I sadly don't think it would. People have a habit of only seeing what they want to and complaining later about things they should have known to begin with.

If it makes you happy, then do it. But don't expect anything to change as a result.

This!

But yeah, I don't think the offenders either read the guidelines, regardless of where they are placed, or give a shit about any guidelines. They are thinking with their dick and the dick doesn't do much reading of anything that doesn't please the dick.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: A Proposition (9/2/2011 8:03:03 AM)

FR>>>LP, how many do you think takes the time to read this stuff and how many are intelligent enought to understand it all...Just the views of this ol"Master

mnottertail -> RE: A Proposition (9/2/2011 9:09:33 AM)

I think that trollish ads do you a great service LP et al. Immediate block and ignore for reasons of untrainability. The fence (ala Tom Sawyer) has been painted for you.

Game over.

stoni23 -> RE: A Proposition (9/2/2011 10:50:20 AM)

and never end a sentence in one!

or is that a preposition?

hangemhigh1953 -> RE: A Proposition (9/2/2011 5:54:36 PM)

Like someone's said in one of the threads in question before, those "submissives" are usually terrible at following rules, I doubt it would help much.

Hisprettybaby -> RE: A Proposition (9/2/2011 7:43:45 PM)

~FR~
Wow. I must be weird. I always read the Frequently Asked Questions, owner's manuals, directions, etc. etc. Now I feel all silly. haha

HannahLynHeather -> RE: A Proposition (9/2/2011 8:54:06 PM)

and don't you find you ask fewer stupid fucking questions as a result?

That's because you are a switch.  If you were a sub, you'd never follow orders.
