Aneirin -> Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/2/2011 5:14:01 AM)

The Maid, the mother and the Crone, a pagan idea, but is it a more accurate explanation of the changes females experience in life ?

Childbirth being the most important milestone, for that changes the body.

But what about the male with this concept, as it is in a lot of cases a maid becomes a mother the male is sexually attracted to other maids ?

In our society, are we bucking nature ?

I'm not entirely sure that is a pagan thing: it's impossible to prove one way or the other, but that's one of the ideas that Wiccans are big on that's probably revisionist, rather than having anything to do with archeology, like the burning times or the supposition that the Willendorf Goddess is evidence of a beneficial matriachal religion predating the evil misogynist patriachal ones, rather than neolithic porno.

Is this going to be another post trying to justify cheating?

The "seven year itch" is not an entirely social phenomenon. (Although its been shown to be closer to 4 years)

DomYngBlk -> RE: Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/2/2011 10:51:53 AM)

What does any of this have to do with Politics or Religion?

hlen5 -> RE: Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/2/2011 10:59:52 AM)

As I understand it, the issue of Maid, Mother, Crone is to appreciate a woman at all her stages of life. In Western society the Maid is valued, and as women age, get progressively devalued.

Great, and I do. But not sure it belongs here..

In the Celtic tradition it isnt so overt. Its just recognition that phases of life exist, not their value. Triple Godess symbolism doubles with the "symbology" (Quick what movie without googling) of the phases of the moon.

DYB, these terms are part of Wicca which is a religion.

Moonhead -> RE: Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/2/2011 1:17:19 PM)

And a religion which, as I've pointed out already, has fuck all to do with any of the stuff it claims to derive from. Wicca is a religion for people who don't know that Grave's The White Goddess was debunked a long time ago.

I don't know much about Wicca and Graves, but triune/triadic concepts of dvinity are ubiquitous and ancient.

True, and with the Catholic Christianity we have; father, son and holy ghost, so isn't that so called monotheist religion also a bit of a hotchpotch of ideas too, or was that an idea incorporated to bring on side all those other conquered belief systems ?

Sure...the OP tosses in the word "Wicca" and that justifies it being posted in this forum. [8|]

Aneirin -> RE: Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/3/2011 3:44:04 AM)

No, the OP does not toss in the word Wicca to justify the location of this topic to the intolerant.

Let me put it another way. The questions you posed in your OP have nothing to do with either politics or religion.

Aneirin -> RE: Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/3/2011 4:07:18 AM)

Then don't bother answering it.

From what I've learned (though I can't quote from where, because it has been many), Christianity encompasses lots of symbolism and beliefs from other previously regarded religions, including the trinity, as well as the virgin birth and the ascension.

Aneirin -> RE: Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/3/2011 5:59:24 AM)

Yeah, and symbolic cannibalism from my own past religious indoctrination, ( I personally believe Jesus dismayed with people was taking the piss when he said this, as that comes across as all people want is what people can give them, in material gain, not words of wisdom, blood and body are material, words carry value only if it suits an observers purpose), the religion is a mess, yet it condemns those with similar ideas, which indicates nothing to do with belief, but more to do with politics and power over other people.

They aren't necessarily quite as ancient as is sometimes claimed, though.

paulmcuk -> RE: Maid, Mother, Crone ? (9/3/2011 12:17:53 PM)

These days there is often a rather long gap between maid and mother, and sometimes the mother phase is skipped entirely. Maid, Slut, Mother, Crone? Or, if you're a feminist: Maid, Independent-minded sexually-active woman, Mother, Crone.

For men it's easy:. Horny Wanker, Bastard, Dirty Old Pervert.
