And I think you one of the people who will never let King's dream be a reality. Fact is you are the first to hunt down a racist viewpoint and then use it with a wide brush to paint the opposition in the same light. Fact is you can't handle Obama being disliked because of his actions.

There are a lot of facts here, but one is clear. Taz brings this same type of bs to a lot of discussions that have nothing to do with race. She makes them about race.

As opposed to you, who can't see anything but.

Like I said, the instant this topic appeared, the question wasn't if, but when you;d show up with your drivel. And honestly, it was even weaker this time than most, given the a republican approach. I should have just went out and found a democrat.

Back to the original point of this post-

I just read a fascinating editorial in the NY Times on the lack of civility in Congress. Jim Cooper (a Blue Dog Democrat), who's been there on and off since 1982, commented that the problem began years ago when Newt Gingrich became Speaker. I remember reading about Newt's actions decades ago- what I didn't realize that the fallout continues to this day.

Jim Cooper's viewpoint coincides quite well with ST's viewpoint, that Congress has gotten too partisan and isn't working together. It's clearly an ugly situation.

It leaves me identifying and dealing with it when I find it, not inventing when it doesn't. Racism exists. So does bigotry. All the indicators of that election followed general election trends of the past with one exception, that being Obama garnered more of the white vote than anyone since Carter. You want to measure people based on a static point in time, and upon indicators that have nothing to do with the man.

Ya know, I could create a poll of adjectives about any group in the world and find a significant number of people who would agree with at least one of them. People from the south are a prime example. Hillbilly, redneck, throw any of those words in there and a significant group of people will agree with some negative adjective. What that poll ignores is the person we deal with, the one we see. What the election demonstrated fairly well is that Republicans voted Republican, Dems voted dems, and independents broke significantly for Obama. I'm quite certain there were people who voted against him because he was black, just as I am quite certain there were people who voted for him because he was black.

What he did, and did well was identify himself as a polar opposite to Bush, identify himself as something of an outsider coming in, and identify himself as man. He neither ran on color nor dwelt on it, and neither did most of America.

Where that leaves you is a twit who wants to overshadow any discussion on his policies and his actions with the unsupported and unproven stance that you either don't agree with his policies and actions because you're a Republican or because you;re racist. Note the very people you're talking about are elected officials.

So, genius, identify the elected officials who are racist. Put your friggin vague bullshit to the test and tell us which elected folks are racists so we can vote them out.

If you can't, then quit fucking arguing because you're just running your mouth with nothing to back it up.

C'mon taz, I know you can do it. Go find the racists in Washington for us.

Well golly, beaver, I dont recall ever saying it was an elected official. I said people... could be someone in government.. who are also people.. or it could be someone who has never held an office.

My position is just what I stated many pages back... the same position you keep arguing is against GOP exclusively but it isnt....

The two you posted have been noted, identified, and resignations called for.

What you prefer to ignore is that the level of respect has dropped consistently and dramatically from Clinton forward. And guess what? It ain't coming back, at least not in the foreseeable future.

And I'll say that regardless of the skin color of whatever person is president. Just wait. Put Perry in office. It will be scathing.

I find it utterly fascinating that Republican's are still considered racists, wasn't it a republican who put Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court, Colin Powell at SecState, then Condi Rice at the same position?

When was the last time you saw a democrat place a person of color in such important positions, other than Johnson appointing Marshall to the SC?

Oh yeah, one more thing... Here's a list of the Senator's who voted against Marshall's nomination...

It's the same typical taz bullshit. She jumps into the fray quoting a crazy to support her often statement, links to a guy who talked to  a republican, then says she wasn't talking about republicans. Totally ignores the OP, totally ignores the reality of the voting, and wants to prove everyone else racist if they don't fall over backwards and faint.

But worse is the tactic of creating an offensive position where one can't even discuss the OP without the implication hanging over them that they're racist or just a political hack.

It is tiresome and stupid.

Thurmond should never be brought up as any standard in regards to the GOP.

He switched out of support for the conservatism of Republican presidential candidate and Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater, who shared his opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

All the while hiding his black daughter from the lime light.

If in an earlier post you were trying to imply that there wasnt substantial voting for Obama just because he is black youre the one with her head in the sand.

Never did any such thing. In fact


I didnt mischaracterize anything, willbe. The fact is that I have issues with both sides of that coin. You chose a side of the coin, I decided to run with it. Its long been implied that Obama won simply because he was black. I disagree. Obama won because he wasnt white, wasnt part of the former administration and people wanted a change.

Try again.
