I just hope it works. Honestly it pisses me off when politicians are put ahead of those who really should be there - and honored for what they did to save lives.

I added my john hancock.....no room?  Really????  Yeah, let those idiot policticians and celebrities stay home.  Who needs them there anyway?  Not a single one of them have the first clue about what those people went through, not just the PD and FD's that responded, but the families of those who were lost that day.  If they want to "honor" them, then they need to butt out and let those who really sacrificed that day be there.  Allow the families and friends to be there.....not some attention whore who just has to be there for whatever stupid publicity they can get from it.

709 to go.  I just signed and posted a message.  The politicians and celebrities with their pretty speeches can stay home where they belong.  Those who were first responders, the families who lost loved ones, the friends and co-workers of those lost should have first honor of being invited.  And what?  Are they actually "mailing" out invitations?  This just smacks of politicking to me, and there's no room for that on the 10th anniversary ceremony of this tragedy.

I believe this petition is a hoax, but I haven't found a source saying it was a hoax that was any more reliable than the source of the petition.

ok, having read the petition, I dont see anywhere that says only the politicians will be invited..

I will grant that I am sleepy, and probably not reading as clearly as possible.. could someone please C&P the bit about the politicians?

I never really looked at it from the politicians are attending viewpoint.....only a handful are coming. I just feel the first responders have a right to be there also. And if all that comes out of this petition is to show them our support, it's still good.

Really? So the fact that it's primarily for the families of those who died on 9/11 and that this is the reason doesn't make sense to you? Yeah they are important but seriously they aren't first priority imo. Plus it's not like the FRs won't be honored, just not there and then. I think it's perfectly fine to keep it to the families of those who lost someone given the lack of space. My objection was specifically politicians being allowed to go in place of FRs.

Of course I do not put first responders above family members. Several first responders will be there because they lost family members in the first responders lost.

This is a celebration. Not a fight. Done
