Eventually we will know who the Obama-backed rebels in Libya are:

Libyan rebels round up black Africans

TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Rebel forces and armed civilians are rounding up thousands of black Libyans and migrants from sub-Sahara Africa, accusing them of fighting for ousted strongman Moammar Gadhafi and holding them in makeshift jails across the capital.Virtually all of the detainees say they are innocent migrant workers, and in most cases there is no evidence that they are lying. But that is not stopping the rebels from placing the men in facilities like the Gate of the Sea sports club, where about 200 detainees — all black — clustered on a soccer field this week, bunching against a high wall to avoid the scorching sun.

Handling the prisoners is one of the first major tests for the rebel leaders, who are scrambling to set up a government that they promise will respect human rights and international norms, unlike the dictatorship they overthrew.

The rebels' National Transitional Council has called on fighters not to abuse prisoners and says those accused of crimes will receive fair trials. There has been little credible evidence of rebels killing or systematically abusing captives during the six-month conflict. Still, the African Union and Amnesty International have protested the treatment of blacks inside Libya, saying there is a potential for serious abuse.

This claim could be interpreted in two ways:
(i) That, currently, no one knows who the Libyan rebels are but we will 'eventually' find out; or
(ii)That Sanity knows currently and he's waiting for the rest of us to become similarly enlightened.

If it is meant in the first way, then of course Sanity's claim that no one understands who the Libyan rebels are includes Sanity himself - in which case we can dismiss all his pronouncements on this issue. Sanity couldn't possibly know what he's talking about.

If Sanity means the latter way; His demonstrably false claims that Obama is "directly responsible" for current events in Libya (post # 20 here), seem to eliminate any close knowledge or understanding of the situation in Libya. This demonstrates (at the kindest interpretation) Sanity's wholesale ignorance of the Libyan revolution. Again Sanity cannot possibly know what he's talking about.

Either way, Sanity's gibberish needn't be taken seriously by anyone.

FYI, Sanity, the Libyan rebels are the Libyan people. I hope that one day, "eventually", you'll grasp this simple basic essential truth. I wish I could say I'm more optimistic that Sanity will grasp this fact - it doesn't sit easily with Sanity's ideology. In every instance I have seen, Sanity's ideology determines his 'facts'.

Yet more evidence of the certifiable insanity of the looney Right .......

Kadhafi (sp?) hired mercenaries from sub-Saharan Africa, and the rebels have rounded up and detained 200 men from sub-Saharan Africa on suspicion of being these mercenaries. It does not seem an unreasonable step under the circumstances...however, how they are treated as the process plays out is of primary importance.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

This mistreatment of the black Africans has been going on the length of the "revolt" with various sources claiming they were denied medical care, food and water and so on dating back months.

The Libyans had a bunch of them as contract workers, so did the oil companies and other offshore businesses, they are not all mercenaries.

Need to wait and see on this one.

Perhaps a little research on your part could disabuse you of your ignorance. I understand that it has had quite a bit of coverage in the media.
A smart feller like yourself should not have too much trouble cyphering it out.

It's one of those middle eastern names that uses a different alphabet, Arpig: you can spell it however the hell you like.

Doubtless, I have seen no less then five different spellings of his name in the Anglosphere press in just the last week, KDaffy is certainly as good as any of the other efforts.

But it now appears the AU is also inquiring about this "ethnic cleansing" conducted by the Libyan "rebels." and when I see an English translation I will post it.
