Hello their.
I'm watching an episode on the Discovery Channel.
It's about the Bermuda Triangle,
and how all these ships and planes have disappered.

Their talking about the flight of the 5 Airforce planes
that wound up disappering.

I myself would not take a trip, via plane or boat
thru the Triangle myself.

So I'm wondering what are Your thoughts are
as to the Disapperances to the flights and boats
of every size that have Vanished in the Triangle?

It is amazing how this myth has lasted through the years. The fact is that planes and ships are frequently lost at sea all the time. The frequency of the losses at that spot is really not different than many other parts of the ocean. And most planes and ships that go through the "triangle" arrive at their destination. But it makes for a good story and tv show. They also made a movie about this quite a few years ago.

I've watched the same show a couple of times, my 14-year-old daughter watched it this afternoon.  While planes and ships do go missing more frequently than realized by most, there is still compelling evidence of "something" odd about the Bermuda Triangle.  However, the show this afternoon illustrated and tested a very likely cause of the episodes concerning the Triangle.

That being said, I don't think I'd want to know if I were flying in the Bermuda Triangle, just on a general purposes basis.

Apparently there are a larger percentage of "vanishings" in the great lakes triangle. Believe it, or not

There is a huge underwater navy base down there.  Some people suggest the two are somehow related.

Did you read what you typed before you posted? A huge underwater navy base? run by which country? who developed the technology to effectively and efficiently run a base at the bottom of the ocean? Because it sure isnt the US and none of the other countries in that area have a navy worth mentioning, infact there are only a handful of countries that have anything close to an advanced Navy, and no one is anywhere near ours in regards to technology, numbers, and ability to project power anywhere in the world.

Was there an underwater Navy base there in the 19th century too?  The U.S.S. Pickering was supposedly lost in the Bermuda Triangle in 1800.  And the U.S.S. Wasp in 1813.

I know, maybe it's aliens.

It is a US base, and if I recall correctly it is off to one corner.  I have seen some mappings of it and photographs.  It is pretty much the Area 51 of the seas.

What about the Bermuda Road, built during the Roman era, which extends from the islands off into the Atlantic... touted by some as being the road to the lost continent of Atlantis?

The Bermuda Triangle has been a notoriously high loss area for ships and aircraft. The area is very prone for going from calm seas to very powerful fast developing storms within the same hour. The storms usually obsure the horizon for aviators, and are common to having strong electrical thunderstorms which wreak havoc on elctronics and avionics systems, especially when struck by lightning. In calm weather surveys, the magnetic properties of the area appear to be normal and consistent with others.

In the case of the 5 Navy Avenger training planes, Flight 44?, it is theorized they mistakenly headed out over the open Atlantic after thinking they were off the west coast of FL, in the Gulf of Mexico. After an amphibious plane was launched on a search and rescue mission, it mysteriously exploded just offshore of the east coast of FL. It was theorized to have been a smoking crewmember, as the amphibious plane was being used as a refueler, and carried a large fuel bladder in it's fuselage.  The Avengers were flying in mostly cloudy weather, flying just above the clouds to avoid the turbulence in and below them. They expected to see the FL mainland and were supposedly flying in a NW heading, which would have put them out of fuel somewhere due east of the FL/GA state line, 200-300 miles offshore if the theory holds true. Finding all 5 Avengers together is unlikely, as each would have fallen into the ocean as soon as their fuel load was consumed, but it was calculated they would be within 50 miles of one another.. somewhere north of the Bermuda Triangle itself.

Heh.  Area 51 does not have anything to do with aliens either.  They develop top secret prototypes such as the stealth bomber.

That's what they WANT you to think.  Those of us in the know have been fully briefed about the use of extraterrestrial technology at Area 51.

Ha! Area 51 is just a clever cover ruse for the true testing location at Site 4.

In any event, the ocean is a mighty dangerous place, without the actions of the supernatural.  Especially in the early days of sail and steam before wireless communication.  You really don't need to introduce much beyond the fickle nature of the sea and the elements to explain what happens in silly little zones we draw on maps.  Every sea, and corner of the ocean has it's disapperences, just as weird and mysterious as what happens in the triangle.

I have absolutely no idea what's with such a phenomena, but I wouldn't hesitate for a second to fly or travel by watercraft through the triangle.

I wonder why Bermuda also leant its name to a fashion that seems to have been lost - Bermuda Shorts!
