No offense to you boomers but you are the problem not the solution. You confuse me. How can you go from the 60's to now? It is like you started out as one group of people with a set of ideas then....presto.....you turn into another set of people that can elect reagan, bushes and have more wars than any other time in our history. From love everyone to everyman for himself......I don't get it

I have always believed the boomers (as a whole) are a selfish, lazy, and self-rightous group of spoiled brats. As their parents handed the keys to the kingdom over, the work ethic that pulled us through a depression and a world war went with them. The entitlement attitude that was created with the boomers, and passed down to successive generations, has us spitting on Kennedy's words. I am just shocked the people that grew up with, "Ask not want your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" turned into,"What has my country done for me lately, and you want me to do what???"

There are two major groups of boomers..those who grew up maintaining the values Friedman lauds, and those that never grew up from "if it feels good, do it". And his ultimate solution...a "third party".... already exists in the only way a third party can emerge in a single winner, plurality voting system....from within an existing party.

I don't get it either.
Does this mean you aren't going to want to support us when we get old?

From what I have seen you don't intend to get "old". Or retire or move out of the fucking way at all. The boomer mantra to me is "Its our world you are just visitors"

Hey guys, look, an ACTUAL boomer in the flesh trying to convince us that he isn't a waste of our time. And not only that boys & girls, but tries desperate to place himself in the most positive light (its 'not his fault' category).

We grew up and learned some common sense.

What the fuck is it with this business of finding some group or other to blame and point a finger at as "the problem"?

It is stupid. And it is disgusting.

take a look around. man, What a fucked up mess boomers have left us with. I'd rather not have to point it out. Rather most of ya just step up and take responsibility for it...but per the usual for the group.....I get a response just like yours.

Im not a boomer, but I didnt miss it by much.

As to your statements... its the same thing we said about the previous group... who said the same thing about the previous group.

The next generation will be saying it about you.

Dont get too smug in your feelings of superiority. Its been done before... it will be done again.

It is my fondest hope that no matter what group is being singled out to blame as "the problem," you will always get a response like that.

And plenty of them.

I'm a boomer, and I have fuck all to do with the world's situation, I never changed my ideals, I never wavered and I never sold out, and I retired at 51 to get out of your way. You're welcome to any of the more or less crummy jobs I have held over the last half century.

Blaming an entire generation for the misdeeds of a group of them is infantile and only shows your intellectual immaturity.

DYB, yeah, you're right, we could have voted for McCarthy and Gore and Kerry.
(Sheesh!)
All the guys I knew in the 60's had long hair so that we could fuck all the Jewish girls from Scarsdale who went to Harvard, B.U.,and Tufts.
We couldn't have cared less about all that other bullshit, we were "working class" and simply liked the music and chicks. Most people in those days were not "hippies" and didn't buy into all that B.S.
"The Press" only cared about what kids who were in college "thought" not us types so they were only reporting on what maybe 5% of the "youts" in the country thought. If you were "working class" they never intervewed you. So most of the "reporting" was very "skewed." I can't remember signing any "papers" in those days to grow my hair long or to be "included" in what kids who went to college and had long hair thought.
One time this Italian guy, Guido, fresh off the boat told us that he wanted to "be a hippy."
We drew up a paper had a little ceremony ("Ok Guido, are you sure you want to do this? Once you sign the paper there's no going back!")
He signed the paper, we all clapped for him and he handed over the $25 "fee" and we went out and bought a couple of cases of beer with it!
"Peace and love?"
We were constantly getting into fights with the Boston and Cambridge cops!
And ripping off any hippies selling pot on Cambridge and Boston common .
"Gimme that pot and money asshole or we'll tell the cops on you!"
"Strawberry fields forever!"
