I was wondering why the GOP candidates would agree to debate on MSNBC before the debate started

As the debate progressed tonight though, and I watched the candidates get several very sharp digs in on the network it became clear -

They set up MSNBC, and they did so very effectively

Fox actually has the same approval number, though NBC is 4 points higher in the disapproval column...

This looks like one of those moments when somebody goes on the evening news, and accidentally tells the truth.
