MileHighM -> RE: Who Won? (9/8/2011 10:42:51 AM)

Back to the OP:

My Opinion:
Bachmann---Parrotting her usual talking points, proving herself the dunce that she is.

Cain---Passion and some fresh ideas (new approach to restructuring the tax code,ss, healthcare), not an evident leader, got kicked around

Paul---PaulClassic, no new coke there---The voting has got to be an anomaly consider he didn't say that much. Paul spammers??

Gingrich---Didn't sound like he was running for Pres. He was an acting peacekeeper--I think he is gaming for VP.

Santorum---Didn't stand out, forgettable

Perry---Came off like W2, and too many platitudes not enough ideas. Bad first impression considering predebate polling. Came off as strong personality, not a big brain

Romney---Not as slippery as before. Still shakey at taking controversy head on.

Hunstmen---Appeared to have a better record than perry and romney(according to himself). Not horribly engaged. As the polling shows, he was good on direct and politically safe answers.

Overall,
I can't say that I see a strong challenger to Obama. There is no one I see that would be the great statesman, a clear leader, or someone capable of steering the conversation. I think where we are as a country right now, we desperately need a leader. Several years of Obama has showed his unwillingness to take charge and responsibility and take charge and just play the blame game, and thus far the Republicans haven't shown they have the focus, ideas, and leadership necessary to challenge.

My Call
Winner: Federal Gov't and bureaurcracy
Consolation prize: Barak Obama
Loser: American People

Now let's see of BO's speech finally shows some leadership and direction in sound policy, or if it is accusations at the teaparty and rehashed stimulous plans peppered with green economy subsidies

Putting too much on it. Nobody is going to be happy with it.

This pretty much sums it up for me. Especially the bits I bolded.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Who Won? (9/8/2011 11:11:17 AM)

Just glad that Bachman is sunk and Perry appears to be following her. Most of the rest will deserve a serious look but the previous two are just a coupla fucking scarey assed dumbass nutbags.

ETA if I were Obama, I'd be funneling money to Bachman LOL.

Not true, We really need to see a turn around in employment or it is likely going to lead to another recession. Maybe people won't like it, but I think it still needs to be a positive message with a bold plan.... Something he didn't deliver during the debt fight. He is the president, and I don't want to see him fail for the country's sake.

Sanity -> RE: Who Won? (9/8/2011 11:43:05 AM)

Lucky for Barack he rescheduled his speech so that it didnt conflict with the NFL game

This way. at least a few people are likely to tune to hear about what is being widely reported as a new tax cut proposal

After watching the gang of 8....matters not what he says

slvemike4u -> RE: Who Won? (9/8/2011 12:08:14 PM)

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.Huntsman is head and shoulders above the rest of this crowd...and hasn't a chance in hell of getting the nomination.The base will,like lemmings going off the cliff,nominate a completely un electable ,too far right,standard bearer....and lose once again.

Lucylastic -> RE: Who Won? (9/8/2011 12:13:03 PM)

I mentioned earlier that Huntsmen came out looking better, for me at least, however, I do know that what he said and what he believes and does, are two separate things.

slvemike4u -> RE: Who Won? (9/8/2011 12:18:30 PM)

Never meant to suggest he is actually Presidential material....just that he looks good when compared to the rest of these idiots.Big fish,little pond sort of thing...not a one of them will be able to wrest the office from President Obama,certainly he can lose the election...but he would need to seriously step on his own dick to do so,especially when one considers the lack of quality in any of the current crop of challengers.

Lucylastic -> RE: Who Won? (9/8/2011 12:20:27 PM)

agreed, that he looks good, is NOT a blinding endorsement:) heh
nice to seeyou back too BTW

I thought the big speech was supposed to be his idea on creating jobs?
