Hi MD718,

First, I don't think the site is a pile of crap.  I met my last dominant'ish boyfriend of sorts (Now I just call him a good friend) here on CM.  I've also met a few other people from here.  One not so great person but several other very nice people.  So people do meet here.  There is a wonderful thread somewhere around here about people who have met on this site.

Maybe a little positive reinforcement would do you some good, and you could go over to the Positive Experiences thread and read about people who have met others on this site. 

Try not to be too discouraged by the responses here, you may be able to take away some feedback that could be helpful to you in your search. 

Remember, many of the posters here are rather fond of this site, and someone coming in and ranting about how awful this place is, is bound to ruffle some feathers.  It is only natural to step up in defense of what one likes/cares for/appreciates.

If you'd really like some positive feedback and tips on approaching your search a bit more positively and effectively, maybe starting a new thread with a slightly different approach.

masterdom718, maybe you are right and this lifestyle is not for the impatient. 

The first year or so that I was here...I left at least a dozen times.  Either you will be back eventually, as I was, or you will not.  Your destiny is in your own hands.

If people in the mail room or chatrooms are insulting you, either you are talking with the wrong people or else you might need to examine more carefully your own manners.  I would advise counting to ten if you are irritated, and to a hundred if someone really pisses you off.  It works for me.

Actually, many of us are paired up with someone that we met at this site, so it works for us.  All of my past subs and bottoms I found at CollarMe.  Some people here enjoy letting off steam...if you need to do so then maybe you might have fun over in the politics and religion area of the boards. As for coming here to have my jollies...eh...I am not into cybering if that is what you are referring to.  I tend to meet up with people from this site and stopped counting after I hit four dozen several years back. 

On the other side, within the mail room and in chatrooms, some people ARE here to toy with other people...and they have a wonderful time if they can wind someone up to the point where that person blows up into a rage like Donald Duck having a tantrum.  Screw up their fun by keeping your cool and never letting them see you sweat. Treat women here as you would any vanilla date...or if you prefer, as if she is an uncle who lives long distance...until the both of you can meet and see if there is any sparkage.  Some of us do not get intimate online, preferring to save that for real time.  Finding the right person...even just to top...can be frustrating.  Lots of people will go poof and some might not show up for meetups...if anything you do makes their spidey senses tingle they might bolt.  Also, if they are misrepresenting themselves or...are just not that into you.

Why not try reading a non-porn BDSM book or two like The Loving Dominant by John Warren, or SM 101 by Jay Wisemen, then come back under a new username that does not have master or dom in it.  Just be a human being first and when you find the right person, the Dom/sub thing might take care of itself.

It sounds like you're relying entirely on what you view on this site to meet someone. I've met people who are members here, but I met them offline through a kink workshop and not through messaging them on this site. Why don't you try something like that, or a munch? You're in New York City, for crying out loud. There have got to be a butt load of munches and BDSM type workshops there. Relying on a free site to meet "the one" (or more if you're poly) just isn't entirely practical. It works for some, but why limit yourself to find people only through an internet site?

Sorry to hear that you're not enjoying CollarMe.  But based on your message, and what I've read in your profile, 99% of the fault is your own.  Here are a few pointers that might help you.

1)  Change your picture.  Your profile says that you're 53, but the picture makes it look like you live in a messy college dorm room (or in your mother's basement).

2)  Write more carefully.  Your post and profile make is sound as though English is a second (or 12th) language for you.  It's hard for people to interact with you if they can't understand what you're trying to say.  Frankly, I felt like I needed an interpreter while I was reading your message.

3)  Patience is a virtue.  You've only been on CollarMe for 2 weeks, and you're already complaining.  Did you really expect it to be that easy?  Is it that easy for you in real life?  Do women swarm you when you leave the house?  If not, then why do you expect that here.

4)  Say more about yourself.  Your profile is completely bare.  So how is a woman supposed to become attracted to you?  I'm sure you don't think that the pictures of a balding, old dude who lives in his mother's basement is going to make the women come running.  Improve your profile!!!  Say something about yourself that will make women want to meet you.

5)  You live in NYC.  Don't you realize that 90% of the people on here wish they lived in a BDSM Mecca like NYC?  Hell, why are you even on CollarMe?  Turn off your computer, and go to one of the many munches that are happening all around you.  If you can't find BDSM in NYC, you're just not trying very hard.
