perhaps to some people, yes a waste of time.. but its just like here, i find certain people interesting cuz of commonalities or how they think and that they make me think.. its not like i want the whole world as a friend, just those that i find particularly interesting.. that said, the internet means people are transient, unless you get their real email addy and correspond regularly, then people tend to come and go.. Some people here tho have formed rl friends/relationships,.. so that sometimes does happen when the stars align.. [:)]

Oh please, anyone that uses Twitter beyond some delusion of thinking they actually matter on a global scale or to live vicariously through a celebrity are fooling themselves. Twitter is a gimmick that has lasting power because of the easily persuaded. More than likely the type that will fall for pyramid schemes in their future. Everything on Twitter can be found on other websites. Often with more informative results due to no text limitation.

I use twitter for my clients to follow me, and to be seen. My tweets are (mostly) hilarious. The people I follow are pretty effin funny too. I use fb just for friends/family (and a few cm friends)

They're both fast food eqivalents of communicating. Face book is what it is. Better for keeping up or reconnecting with people you already know. Most of the interaction is mundane but a lot of human interaction is mundane. If you want communication that stimulates your brain or other parts you need to go somewhere other than facebook. I don't use twitter to communicate with people I know in real life. I look for subjects that interest me. Politics, books, fashion, movies, etc. You check in and get a quick bite of something that interests you and move on.

Well I'm glad it's there, although I have never even been there, because it's place for people on message boards that complain the length of my posts exceed their truncated attentions spans to go for idle chatter and witty banter. I don't mind a little witty banter, mind you, all work and no play etc., but if it it's a serious topic, then quip and quote alone is insufficient for a proper analysis of the problem.

By contrast, I've always found chat to be a difficult medium for any kind of serious discussion, and I tend to stick to light conversation.

No, twitter isn't the place to go for in-depth analysis. You get a link from the NY Times you follow it and read a expanded version. Later when you have more time and you choose to you can explore the topic further. It's a appetizer before the meal or can be. Witty banter doesn't replace serious debate anymore than flirting replaces having sex though in both cases the former sometimes leads to the latter.

i use twitter to post whatever the fuck crosses my mind. i don't give a fuck if anybody likes it or not, or even if they read it. besides, it gives you a chance to tell the prime minister to go fuck himself.
