pahunkboy -> can a realitor just give someone a key to go in? (9/10/2011 7:29:57 AM)

My bro in IL said the realitor let people in- with out being there- and did not have his permission.

Seems odd to me.

Sounds odd to me. How did he know that happened?

He lives 2 doors down- and seen it.

SO HOW DOES HE know THAT PREMISSION WASNT GIVEN?

How did the "realitor" let people in without being there?  Telekinesis?

I've had a lockbox on my house when I sold it. The lockbox had my house key in it. All that's needed to get into the lockbox is the key. The Realtor could have given the potential buyers the key to get in the lockbox. This happened once when I was selling a house. BUT...my Realtor got my permission first to do so.

If there was more than one person it's possible that one of them was a realtor or an agent thereof. If it was only one person it may have been another realtor. They also send people out to take pictures etc.

However here they ae not supposed to give those lockbox keys out to potential buyers or anyone. It may be different there but I doubt by much. However another realtor can see by the listing on the computer if the house has a lockbox and if there are any restrictions on entry, which are not all that common when someone wants to sell a house. You can insist on being there when the place is shown, but that makes it more of a pain in the pass to sell.

But still this is not quite clear, your brother is selling the house and he told you that someone told him that someone went in his house ? Or did someone else tell you or what ?

T^T

He lives two doors down from the house that he's selling? (just want to be sure I understand this correctly.)

Sometimes the lockbox numbers can be available to all of the realtors, and I've even seen them "oops" and accidently publish the numbers on the realtor.com-type websites.

There are some shady realtors out there, as in any field, who might give a lockbox number to a friend or relative and tell them to go have a look on the sly. Back when I was looking to buy a home, there was actually a realtor who was known to take the keys out of a lockbox if she had a client who had seen a home for sale and wanted to put in an offer. That way, no other agent could show the home, which would allow her client to put the offer in and get it accepted without competition from another buyer. I think she finally got caught.

The person was a REALTOR not a realItor. That happens to be what I and a number of people on the site do for half assed paying work, and even those in the field like to put that I in there, ...think of it as domimant and dominate, and how people react to dominate..**shudders**.

Back to the thread (if this is fact discussed.) I apologize for the hijack.

Hey if you're going to invent new words like domimant, we're all going to have to sit in a circle and discuss them.

Standard practice in Melbourne, although you don't mention if this is for renting the place or selling it.

He is going to not use that same realtor any more.    She goofed- as she got alot of commissions from his stuff....

Perhaps it was a realtor from another company showing the house?

If he was so pissed why did he not just walk 2 doors down and ask what the hell they were doing, instead of sitting there like a lump?

pahunkboy -> RE: can a realitor just give someone a key to go in? (9/10/2011 5:46:50 PM)

^ you miss understood.  There was no realtor with people who were IN his house.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: can a realitor just give someone a key to go in? (9/10/2011 5:55:10 PM)

If he did not go talk to the people who went in, how do you know one was not a realtor?

pahunkboy -> RE: can a realitor just give someone a key to go in? (9/10/2011 6:07:17 PM)

He is in a bad mood- I do not want to call him back for details...

littlewonder -> RE: can a realitor just give someone a key to go in? (9/10/2011 6:36:48 PM)

When I was selling my house there was a box on my doorknob that had a key inside of it. My realtor and any realtor that my realtor gave the code to could come in and look at the house with or without me there. It's part of the agreement you make when you sell your house.

If you don't want someone to come in when you aren't there you can make that agreement as well. It's up to the seller. But if you decide that someone can only see it when you are home it's going to take a long time to possibly sell it. Most buyers don't want the owner to be there when they look at it so they can look without someone following or sneaking around them.

Oh darn, Video AA, and I was just wanting to give you some jewelery, as I saw worn on the person of my realator (for those insisting on proper spelling of improper language, such as myself; it's "Realator", not "Realitor") which I found while cleaning out my chimley.

(so contrivanced the contumely incongruousness there, nest pass?)
