This is not about me trying to teach anyone anything. This is just where I will be answering the questions that people keep invading my inbox to ask me. I will not discuss the answers, I will not read replies to anything I say. It's just that so many people seem so deeply concerned with these basic questions, and, it is not always easy to discern the difference between the people who are just trying to pick a fight, the people who are concerned for me, and the people who are truly seeking an answer for their own sake, so I will post the answers here, refer them to this post, and, let them sort out their own motivations.

Starting with this:

2 Corinthians 11: 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works.

This answer is in regards to questions about how I could possibly believe in God, when so many people claim to be working for Him and yet bilk people out of their money, or, how it is I could believe Christians have anything to do with God, or .. you know, any of those sort of questions.

Here's the facts: A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of the Christ. As Jesus pointed out to the Jewish leaders of his day, if they had admitted they were "blind", didn't know what they were doing and asked for help, they would have been forgiven for their false teachings and helped to learn the proper teachings, but, since they stubbornly refused to learn, when they had everything they needed to accomplish that learning, they were taking the side of Satan and were not God's people at all, no matter that they set themselves up as religious leaders.

Do you really think Jesus gives more leeway for Christian leaders who act the same? Please! If they are teaching falsely, they have chosen not to belong to God, and, if they say otherwise, it is a lie. So, I do not see the false teachings and practices of others as proof of lack of power or lack of integrity of God.

Jesus taught that there would be divisions and sects, false teachers and people falsely claiming to be him, especially the closer toward the end we get. Surprise! It has happened. This is not proof that God is a liar, or does not exist, it is proof that a man, about 2,000 years ago, lived, who aptly prophesied that this would happen. A man, by the way, who went around raising up the dead, being talked to directly by God within hearing of others, curing illnesses and infirmities, etc. all in a glorious political campaign, which, in effect was to say "God can rule you. He is not just saying he can do this for you and make you healthy and happy. Here is the proof."

So, back to scripture quoted above. Jesus told the false religious leaders that Satan was their father. Likewise, then, the false religious leaders who claim to be Christian have Satan as their father. Therefore ...

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works.

... is about those false religious leaders, too. They pretend to be ministers of righteousness. Their deceit is seen by God. They will be punished by God.

However, as falsely as any may teach, the rest of us are free to open up the Holy Scriptures, read them, study them, and pray for guidance in understanding them. So, the religious leaders are at fault for their part in the ignorance of their congregants. But, each congregant is at fault, for failing to perceive their deception and have them removed, in favor of someone who will teach the truth.

God is the only one in the equation who is not at fault. And, I, for my part, read the Holy Scriptures and eschew the religious meetings of those whom I know to teach falsely. Thank you.

A man (woman, human) divided cannot stand.

What she means is that she has so many profiles, that she needs one spot to send all those emails, she is surely being invaded by.

Okay.. first question... what does the Bible say about deception, false pretense and the heart?

Ah, but Lockit, she/he wont respond. In essence she is saying she wont use this as a discussion board.. but as her own private journal.

I would be curious as to what the Mods think about that.

Are you certain it wasn't your sanity they were questioning?

Not that I think this forum should be your own personal pulpit for you trying to back up your belief that it's totally cool for the twenty flipping profile thing, but I'll bite.

2 Corinthians 11: 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light.

This happens to be about deception of appearances, in My opinion.  Not the best leg for you to stand on.

15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works.

In My opinion, this doesn't mean that such ministers were given permission to deceive people as long as the ends justify the means.  Even if it did, what do you believe is the greater benefit according to God's will for you to be misrepresenting yourself twenty times over?  Do you believe, somehow, that by inventing new profiles that you are having twenty times the ability to spread Christianity because more people will write to you?  That's crap.  You're doing so for your own purposes just as much, if not more, for your own benefit, including your hopes of lining your own pocket.  We know what God says about that, don't we?

Here's the facts: A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of the Christ.

Exactly.  Something, if I were you, would weigh heavily on My mind.

A Christian is someone who follows the church of Christ. Religion comes from the Greek root religios, meaning to come together. If you do it by yourself, it isn't religion, and you aren't a Christian, you're simply a follower of Christ.

Well no. LadyP got it right. Somewhere in the bible, I can't be arsed to look it up, Christ basically says that it's cool with him if you worship outside of church, it's not the venue that counts it's the belief in God that counts.

I'm not saying that if you worship in the absence of church and all its attendant minutia you aren't aligned with God or Christ, I'm saying you aren't part of the Christian religion. That's simply the way the word works.

Badly paraphrased... the gathering of the church is to strengthen the brethren. Some compare it to a lump of coal in many churches. Together coal makes a fire and keeps the flame and a coal by itself supposedly cools off. Practicing your faith alone doesn't put you into a category or makes you less or more if I am remembering correctly. That teaching would come from a religion from my view of it. Any difference between christain and follower of Christ would be man made.

The Bible says if you believe that Jesus is the son of god and follow after him, doing what he says, you will have love and obedience in your heart and life and will live for eternity with him. (Another bad paraphrase of many scriptures combined. lol)

Thanks Tazzy. Just added bolding to another part for emphasis.

Religion comes from the Greek root religios, meaning to come together.

It is derived from the Latin religio.
One possibility is derivation from a reduplicated *le-ligare, an interpretation traced to Cicero connecting lego "read", i.e. re (again) + lego in the sense of "choose", "go over again" or "consider carefully". Modern scholars such as Tom Harpur and Joseph Campbell favor the derivation from ligare "bind, connect", probably from a prefixed re-ligare, i.e. re (again) + ligare or "to reconnect," which was made prominent by St. Augustine, following the interpretation of Lactantius ~Wikipedia
See also:
1150–1200; Middle English religioun (< Old French religion ) < Latin religiōn- (stem of religiō ) conscientiousness, piety, equivalent to relig ( āre ) to tie, fasten ( re- re- + ligāre to bind, tie; compare ligament) + -iōn- -ion; compare rely ~Dictionary.com

Middle English religioun, from Anglo-French religiun, Latin religion-, religio supernatural constraint, sanction, religious practice, perhaps from religare to restrain, tie back ~Merriam-Webster

Middle English (originally in the sense ‘life under monastic vows’): from Old French, or from Latin religio(n-) 'obligation, bond, reverence', perhaps based on Latin religare 'to bind' ~Oxford
No Greek.
