Archer -> RE: What's your "style?" (5/22/2006 2:41:39 PM)

Considering the plethora of fetish type art from the time period your "there were no before the internet" possition is indefensable.

People didn't have all these labels to choose from but they certainly debated if Master H was a bit too far out on the edge to risk being associated with. Reading circles certainly passed around the stories of kinky sex practices of the Buhuma (made up) tribes of new guinea. We know it happened because the documents proving it are still around. You don't really think John Norman was the first person to imagine a world of masculine manly men and women forced to slavery at their sexual and laborious whims. The ideas had already been documented, there was an entire phoney science of people being born to various races genders etc naturally best suited to specific labors/ endevors from victorian times that lasted into the 1920's.

Kinky sex practices are documented as far back as Rameses II at least. and to imagine that we in our enlightened age are the first to have established and debated the right way to do it is short sighted at best.

Maybe I'm reading what you wrote wrong, I certainly hope so.

BTW I don't advocate my "style" as being the only right way, I advocate having some level of inward look that tells you why you like things the way you like them. For most of us it's a matter of the stories we read and their effects on us both the fictional which discribe how things might be if only, to the factual telling us the way things were.

Yup...me in a nutshell.

I really like a lot of these answers, and am very intrigued at the implications.  This is really good.  If there are any details anyone would like to offer, feel free.  I'm loving this.

As for the history of things, that's not really what I was asking.  I was simply wondering where all my fellow Dominants get their "inspiration" so to speak.  I know everyone has their own style, that's what I'm asking.  I also like the four pillars analogy.  If everyone could list which is their main influence out of those four, it would be greatly appreciated.  If this is impossible, I understand.

puella -> RE: What's your "style?" (5/22/2006 6:46:29 PM)

I guess due to my previous exposure to Gor... and even beyond that to just... what feels most natural to me would be to say that I do not attribute a style by which to label myself... the only label I have ever relished was.. property of _______.   I think as an owned submissive you are what ever pleases your owner... so don't get too attached to a style.

Of course.. having been released from the collar... I don't know.. I don't feel any sort of drive to attach myself to any label or style.. It all seems rather empty, to be honest.

bandit25 -> RE: What's your "style?" (5/22/2006 7:15:40 PM)

I have to go with KatyLied on this one.  My "style" is the relationship between me and my dom.  What we do...not what anyone says we should do or need to do.  I like her term of reality based.

VandalHeart -> RE: What's your "style?" (5/23/2006 10:35:27 PM)

OK, if the subs/slaves are going to post on here, you need to explain your Dominant's style, or you need to not post.  I started this thread to find out about the individualization of Domination that individual Doms and Dommes have.  I didn't ask about submission styles, because I knew the the usual answer would be "I don't have one."  Submission doesn't often come in styles, it comes in differing levels.  There are exceptions, but they are rare, so there wouldn't be much to these responses if that was what it was about.  I don't want you to not post, I just want you to stay on topic.

Unfortunately, it's a public board and anyone may post what they like, whether you like it or not.  Demanding otherwise is pretty futile.

To have a level of submission does not exclude the ability to have a style as well.  Are there not levels of dominance?

MstrTiger -> RE: What's your "style?" (5/24/2006 8:07:02 PM)

My style is preachy I hate bullshit semi Romanesque “worship me you pathetic slave and then I might torture you if you are a good boi” fabulousness with a slice of super bitch and a hint of total indifference and possibly a tiny soupcon of hundred dollar hooker in a 20 dollar dress. Though with a novel coating of basic common decency and garnished with a plastic llama (because llamas are funny).

So then the dog said to the plane, hows it going up there? The plane said to the dog, eat more brussle sprouts and watch out for alarm clocks.
(Is that enough off topic for you, lol?)

My style is MomDom with class and eloquence topped of with erudite bitchiness part time. Just bitchy the rest, lol. [:D]

FloridaISIS -> RE: What's your "style?" (5/25/2006 1:19:45 AM)

I've been asked this before, and the answer always will be whatever works for Me and the given sub at any given time, of course while keeping it SSC at all times. Once hard limits are established, basically anything goes. A nice one on one prior to anything I'd like to spring on him assures that he won't lose trust in me, and let's him know that now it's consensual it can pop up during any scene.

First and foremost, I'm a woman...warm, loving, tender, and compassionate, and he always knows no matter how intense it gets he always has a set of loving arms awaiting him.

Motto I like using with my sub
Forever bound as one:  heart, mind, body and soul.

When the clothes come off I agree to do my whorish-best.  All other times it is dignitas personified.

Best,
