Okay, as some people know, i am from Chicago - not only growing up near Oakbrook Mall but actually living in the City wherin the Mile was a walk away or hop on the L.

I am now transplanted in Northern TN -- i.e., i am 30-45 minutes from one decent mall in Nashville Area called Green Hills.  But i muster up the energy and i take my happy butt to Green Hills to get a semblance of decent stores.  Yes i am 7 miles from a mall but Macy's Dillards, Sears and JC Penny are like the BOMB lol at that mall.  Yes, when i got down here i called my friends and cried because i had to drive to walk to the store [8|]

But i just have to tell everyone!!  WE HAVE A NORDSTROMS!!! It's opening this week in Green Hills.  I have been waiting forever.

Okay, not sure if people can understand my excitement lol my friends back home can't as they don't have far to go to have decent shopping lol.  So i thought i would share in a place wherein someone may feel my pain lol and excitement at this awesome opening.

angel    okay and scene!

Sorry i just am really excited so you all have to get the news.

I'm from Seattle where Nordstrom started waaaay back probably before I was born. I've noticed that only people not from Seattle call it "NordstromS". Just one of those things that's sort of like fingernails on a blackboard for me.

Enjoy shopping there!! It's a truly wondrous place.

Nope not from Seattle and always have called it Nordstroms lol I don't know why we automatically make it plural.
I think it sorta just flows off the tongue that way -- Just like JC Penney by most people i know is called JC Penneys or Penneys.

Any hoo, i will enjoy it, i am tired of shopping there online or only when i go home.  There is nothing like just browsing through the stores.

Lord, i am homesick lol.  angel

Actually i checked my history from my address bar and realize i type it Nordstrom but think of it as Nordstroms.

Nordstroms is awesome. Great stuff and great service. But what I really love, when i am in a shopping mood, is Nordstroms rack. Huge variety of stuff, from thing you might see at kohls, to marked down designer stuff. Fortunately, I don't get in a shopping mood that often,

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Wiggle dances -- NORDSTROMS (9/12/2011 10:01:14 PM)

The original Nordstrom Rack was in the basement of the downtown store. It was small & things were easy to find. Back then, designer jeans were new & they sold for $50 upstairs. When they came downstairs, they sold for $5. I went to the Rack one time & bought a whole wardrobe for $50.

You'll wait forever at Green Hills just to find a parking space. My girlfriend was leaving Green Hills and two vultures saw her and were poised to get the parking space. So poised that they actually penned her into the spot. So she shut off the car and started Facebooking on her cell phone and waited for them to get the memo. The two morons were oblivious to the fact that she didn't have room to back out. I cannot imagine a trip to that mall being on anyone's short list of fun things to do.

I loved Green Hills when I lived in the area.. didnt go often (as I generally am not big on shopping), but it was great when I NEEDED to shop (holidays, birthdays, etc)

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Wiggle dances -- NORDSTROMS (9/13/2011 5:22:59 AM)

The downtown Seattle Rack is still the best

barelynangel -> RE: Wiggle dances -- NORDSTROMS (9/13/2011 6:06:53 AM)

Yeah, i rarely have an issue finding parking at Green Hills.  What hurts is the 30-45 minute drive depending on traffic lol or if its around holidays --- the traffic is horrid and sometimes takes double that just to get in and out because its one of the only decent malls in the Nashville area.

I never in my born days remotely thought i would actually find stores i took for grant it most of my life not physically available to me.  I am excited also because The container store is coming to Green hills also.  I just wish they would branch out to other malls but i know why they don't.

I lived in Wilson Co., so my drive probably wasnt nearly as bad as yours...
