How many cars do you have up on blocks in your yard?

If you live in an apartment- include the neighbors place.

kiarsia -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 1:46:53 PM)

Only two.

Dude, where do you live? Only thing up on blocks in my yard is a container of geraniums.

littlewonder -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 2:59:59 PM)

none

I live in the city. If your car is up on blocks it's gonna be towed. Parking around here is a luxury so no one can afford to  have their cars up on blocks.

At my former home, again none. No one ever did things like that. They'd either put it in their garage to fix it or take it someplace to have it fixed.

There's a $1,000 fine for having a car up on blocks in your yard in my city.

Interestingly, the one time I was called for jury duty in my city, it was for a case where someone was appealing the fine he received for doing this. I think his attorney could tell by the way I was rolling my eyes that I would not have been sympathetic to his cause, and he was right!

When I was house-hunting several years ago, the realtor took me to see a house in another town where there was a car up on blocks in the yard next door. I didn't even want to get out of the car and look at the house. The neighbor with the car up on blocks probably cost his neighbor some sales. I'm glad he would have been fined in my town.

That's why you need a big fence.

The closest thing to this where I live is a guy in the garage I park in has a muscle car (GTO I think) he has had since he was a teenager in the 70's..he keeps it covered up and only takes it out every so often to run it...Or he used to...I haven't heard it in a long time and it was a very loud car and car alarms would go off when it went by.

What about couches on the porch?  Or appliances outside?   Spare tires??

I hate when people put up wind chimes.  Luckily this town is not windy.

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 7:09:54 PM)

Wind chimes we have, down by the river. But none of the other things. Those are just tacky.

pahunkboy -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 7:12:40 PM)

I try to never be the worst house on the block.

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 7:23:45 PM)

From the sounds of things, that wouldn't take much of an effort.

DesFIP -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 7:24:48 PM)

4 I am ashamed to admit. However The Man almost has the pick-up repaired and that means we can rent a dolly and spend a day driving broken cars to the junk yard. If they came and picked them up, we wouldn't get any money after paying the tow fees.

One car is being used to cannibalize to repair the step-son's car, that probably won't get towed immediately. One belongs to his older brother who graduated college and left his old car here.  One belongs to my daughter and one is The Man's old work van.

None are visible as I have 35 acres and a quarter mile long driveway.

pahunkboy -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 7:25:27 PM)

...we cant all live in the high rent district.  LOL

Termyn8or -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/13/2011 9:16:49 PM)

Round here we don't bother with blocks, we just letum sink into the mud.

And we don't worry about fines, cops and inspectors don't come around much ever since ummmm, never mind.

T^T

I think couches on the porch are okay. My neighbor has a small one on her porch and no one has said or done anything to her. I think you can get away with appliances outside if you keep them in your backyard and not your front yard, and no one complains. I don't know about ordinances regarding spare tires, and haven't seen any around.

Lots of people have wind chymes, so I know there's no ordinance against that.

LaTigresse -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/14/2011 4:03:55 AM)

The only furniture outside my house, is outside furniture. The only decor is plants, flowers (both in pots and planted), and more than a few rocks. The horse trailer is currently parked next to the horse barn but it is not up on blocks and will not fit into the garage.

We are really picky about keeping the place looking nice. It doesn't have to cost money, just effort and give a damn.

BurntKitty -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/14/2011 5:28:31 AM)

The block I live on is all condos & townhomes. (None higher than 3 stories.) There are no cars/trucks on blocks nor abandoned vehicles. If a vehicle is to be stored here during the summer and the registration/tag is expiring, the owner may use a cover, but it has to be approved by the condo board.

GreedyTop -> RE: How many cars up on blocks your yard (9/14/2011 5:58:46 AM)

the only things on blocks around here are some of the homes...
