siamsa24 -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/14/2011 10:57:29 PM)

On the original topic, I have done quite a bit of work as an alt/fetish modeling and quite a bit of just-plain-old-vanilla plus size modeling too (just to shake things up [:D]) so yes, my profile pictures are taken by professional photographers and can be found in quite a few places on the interwebs.  I don't think that should automatically make me a fake, that doesn't seem quite fair.
Am I famous? Not by a long shot, but images of my body (or various parts of it) are either currently in use or have previously been in use all over the United States (in fact, if you ever saw the Bodyscape that was hanging in Cleveland Hopkins Airport for a bit then you have seen my titties up close and larger then life [:)])

I'm actually a size 12'ish (160+ pounds), I'm just tall with big tater tots so I look slimmer [:)]

damn..I just used tineye on 5 of the pics I use on several websites...no hits on ANY of them.....

Yeah, my understanding is if the site uses java then tineye or google cant access the pics so sites like this, fet, most other dating sites, its not going to bring up those pics cuz it cant see them. I have used both those programs and they did let me know some of the pics i tried were someone elses, one was even a pic from a craigslist ad (tineye had the pic but the ad had already been deleted so i couldnt read it)...

So it depends on where the pics have been taken from..

xxblushesxx -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/15/2011 12:04:54 AM)

Actually, Arpig is right in this case regarding photos, who owns them, and who can report them (to almost any site)

I know for a fact that if you yourself are the owner of said pics and someone is using them, there is a quick and easy process to turn them in and verify what you are claiming. You can't just go around accusing others of improperly using photos. You just don't KNOW. I own so much content (because of my job) I could PLASTER this place with "fake" pics (that I have the right to use) I just choose not to. But I've seen "my girls" posting on here as "real people" by people who also have the same rights to that content I have. So...the best thing to do, if you know someone is using something they "stole" off the web, is to contact the person whose image was stolen. The ironic thing (as Arpig also said) is that that person may not have the rights to his/her own photo, but they may know who does. Then if they want to file a valid complaint they can.

I wouldn't want it any other way. Otherwise people would be willy nilly reporting "fake" or "stolen" pics of people they don't like. This way there is legal accountability.

i just love the way some people on this site choose to ignore fundamental parts of what is written just so they can make a point that is just picky rather than relavent.

there is a huge difference between the guy posing as a girl and using pics that can't actually be verified, than in the case i have spoken about where the guy is actually claiming the photo is himself when it isn't! the photo he sent as 'proof' that the crop is him isn't the original pic, but one he claims is actually him. the two pics are so completely different it's easy to see it isn't him.

the whole point is that this man is claiming the photo is of himself but i know for a fact who the photo is of and that it doesn't match this guys other face photo. it's not just about ownership of the photo. the guy could well 'own' the copyrights but it isn't of himself as he is claiming.

differences and details people.

If you know who the picture belongs to, why not contact them and let them decide whether to report it or not, following the channels supplied to do such....case solved.

needlesandpins -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/15/2011 9:06:44 AM)

sorry VAA but i find that a hugely flippant comment that is unbecoming of admin. if admin just don't care then fine. if people can actually flaunt the rules of the site and claim that they are people in photos that are not them then fine. i reported a guy for using a photo that he claims is him when it isn't. as far as i'm concerned it's admin's job from there. i'm not employed by the site to do the leg work so why should i bother. makes interpretating the rules a little awkward though.

siamsa24 -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/15/2011 9:53:35 AM)

As far as I can tell there is nothing that says that the pictures you post have to be of you, it only says that they have to be taken by you (in other words, you have to have permission to use them).
I understand that it's frustrating that some folks use pictures that are not really them, but it's not the Mods job to police that.  In fact, I can't find anything about it in the TOS at all.

If you are worried about people not looking how they say they look then why not just meet them in person?

needlesandpins -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/15/2011 10:31:58 AM)

oh gee whiz. there is nothing like deliberately missing the point. the tos quite clearly says you may upload photos of YOURSELF and that you must own the rights to that photo. sometimes this place is worse than hitting your head against a brick wall.

i'm not looking for anyone so why would i want to meet that person.

still as is quite clearly being put across here, it is quite alright to put whatever the hell you like in your profile and you can claim to be any other person you like as long as the ACTUAL person you are professing to be doesn't spot you and complain. so all is groovy in the contradictory world that is here lol

xxblushesxx -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/15/2011 11:52:17 AM)

How do you know he didn't purchase the rights to that content? You don't unless you contact the person who owns all rights (quite often NOT the person in the photo)

We are not missing the point, we do get what you're saying, and no, it's not fair that someone rips something off and uses it. (assuming he did) But you have to have more than just a really good suspicion...you have to be the person who owns it, otherwise you have hundreds of people "discovering" fake profiles and turning them in every single day. The only fair way to control this is to have the person who is being damaged by this (the one who owns the rights) be the one to complain.

siamsa24 -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/15/2011 1:04:57 PM)

Thank you blushes, that's exactly the point I was trying to make.

needlesandpins -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/16/2011 5:22:06 AM)

ok guys, he may own the rights, however, the last time i checked, owning the rights to a picture doesn't give you the right to claim you are the person in it when you are not.

so try and be right all you like but the fact still remains that the guy is using someone else's photo and claiming it's him which is wrong. that doesn't make any difference as to who owns the rights to the picture.

i'm now bored of trying to point out what is wrong with that particular profile picture. i get that admin don't give a stuff who actually uses what photo so long as the actual person in it doesn't complain. i get that the rules are a mockery so the simple solution is to not care either.

Or you could volunteer to spend hours and hours every day checking each and every one of the several hundred new photos submitted every day and contacting each person to determine if they have the rights to use the picture and then confirming those claims. It should only take up about 48 hours out of every 24.

The other option is to say "Huh, he's a liar and a lousy one at that, glad I found out right away and didn't end up involved with him".

xxblushesxx -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/16/2011 10:35:49 AM)

Yep.

And not for nothing, but every site that I know that allows people to post pictures of "themselves" have the same policy. It would be ludicrous to put the onus one the site for the hundreds (if not thousands) of pics submitted daily.

PeonForHer -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/16/2011 11:02:52 AM)

FR

Went on a search at Tin Eye for my profile pics. No matches. Bah. Why hasn't anyone tried to steal any of them? What's wrong with them? [:(]

xxblushesxx -> RE: Identify Fake Profiles (9/16/2011 11:12:26 AM)

I've got the same pics up at lots of different places. (not just mine, but the content I buy as well.) And lots of other people have the same content. I never find a match.
Don't worry Peon, I'm sure there's lots of people stealing your pics. (but I preferred them without the scary self-appearing scratch marks, personally!)
