Actually I'd be inclined to disagree with you. If he says you've given them the attention they crave by making this thread, then you quite probably have. After all, if anybody is in a position to know what sort of attention those who make inflammatory and ill-thought out posts time after time just for a reaction are after, wouldn't you say the most egregious offender on the boards would?

Yay for cheesecake!!  Hmmm, sounds like a good idea for this weekends play party.

As for the OP, I have learned about "my little friend," the hide button. It only took 5 years...pfft. Off with their heads! silly wabbits.

Status: offline 		I put someone on hide once. (years ago) I kept seeing her stuff quoted, and finally, it got to be too much. I *had* to know what she was saying. Turns out it wasn't that interesting, and just as stupid as before. But yeah, the hide thingy just makes me feel like I'm missing something...

Can't say for sure. Ask "Hanners" and get back to us on that. It's really insane that the OP asked "When one person goes out of their way to post inflamatory and obviously ill thought out posts, why do other people answer and try to make them think reasonably?" and you can...with a straight face....pontificate about it as if she isn't possibly the worst offender ever. She blew in here being obnoxious and has only gotten worse and you (and so many other usually rational folks) can't even begin to see or accept it. Wow.........luci

But that's kind of the point of your thread, isn't it (in a round about way)?  We don't play nice here so much.  And when the mud slinging is aimed at someone the majority thinks is stupid, dumb, an asshole, or what have  you, it's accepted.  When it's toward someone in the minority, well, not so appreciated.  That's when the slinger gets the bad rap.  Otherwise, hey it's for people's amusement, right?

What's stupid, assholish, and acceptable is subjective and depends on the perspective of the observer.  How those views are expressed, however, makes a difference (in my own subjective opinion from my own viewpoint perspective ).

Status: offline 		That wasn't my point. Quite the opposite, actually. I favor just iggying those who come across as attention seeking dumbasses, instead of playing into their masochistic desires. It is up to the individual to decide who the attention seeking dumbasses are. And no, no one ever has to mention who they think are the ASDs. If we all did that, the ASDs would move on to more receptive (and sadistic) boards.
