I can't remember if each line is repeated three or four times, but as well as I remember the words are as follows Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya; <repeated three or four times> Oh, Lord, kumbaya. Someone's cryin', Lord, kumbaya; <repeated three or four times> Oh, Lord, kumbaya. Someone's singin', Lord, kumbaya; <repeated three or four times> Oh, Lord, kumbaya. Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya; <repeated three or four times> Oh, Lord, kumbaya. I'm not sure, but I think there is at least one or two more "kumbayas" at the end. Hanners says that "kumbaya" means something along the lines of "come to me" or "come here" in some slave patois from the Carolina islands, but she can't remember what it is called.
