One hopes they'll keep her collared and indoors from now on. Next time it could well fall prey to a coyote or a car. If you let animals wander, then it is your responsibility when they are harmed.

Poor little guy. Must have been scared and hungry. Cats can climb up, but due to the shape of their claws, can't climb down.
