Sorry for the delay.
1. Abuse. The regulatory system is abused. There is more poison in the food than food. The land is played out and yields stretched so thin that to get a day's worth of carotene you would have you eat so many carrots your eyes would be orange. The meat is diseased because of improper diet, all in the name of getting to market weight sooner.
2. Abuse. Not to mention the possible links between the poor and adulterated food causing immune system problems, doctors in this country are pill pushers. New drugs have a paragraph on the benefits and the contraindications read like the congressional record. No doctor can read all that and have any time for patients. Drug companies also court their "business" with gifts etc., and even advertise on TV to get people to find a pusher who will prescribe their pills, to the point of now calling them "prescibers". Now it is getting so bad that pharmacies need to have a database to see just how many people are going to three, four or more doctors to get their chemicals.
3. Abuse. Doctors do double billing, overcharging and whatever they can in many cases just to make money. Some of this money is for malpractice insurance, partly due to ;
4. Abuse. Abuse of the legal system by profiteers who make money making people rich in court. Want to start a lawsuit ? Go for a free consultation, the first piece of evidence has nothing to do with the specifics of your case, the case's merit is chiely based on the D&B rating of the company you can sue, or some other indicator of the depth of their pockets.
5. Abuse. Hospitals are as top heavy as any other form of corporation. Those who do the least make the most. Even making doctors rich isn't wehat's breaking the system, even the nurses at $40-50 an hour aren't breaking the system. It's the topheaviness, and the topheaviness of the suppliers of equipment. They comply with ridiculous regulations that make a ten cent part cost twenty dollars, and there are thousands of those parts in every machine "that goes beep".
6. Abuse. Even if it were possible for patients to take care of themselves, eat right and stay active, they wouldn't. Thet would gorge themselves on sugary junk wrecking their endocrine system all their lives and then expect misacles from a system that doesn't do very well on average. Sure we have some of the best facilities on the planet, but out of how many ? They overeat and wonder why they get too fat to walk. Then they need a $3,000 scooter chair. Where do you think that money comes from ?
There are many other reasons why it won't work here. And, lately there has been some noise made about scaling back care in countries that do have socialised medicine. They are feeling the crunch as the world economy suffers the abuse of those who have learned how to take and are getting more adept at it every day. They will find it impossible eventually as well and it will indeed be every person for themself. We're just first.
